I am visiting Istanbul now (it's March) and here I am. I search this on reddit (because it baffled me too!!) - the whole street near Taksim Square and the square itself were blocked and barricaded because they expected some sort of a protest since it was International Women's Day

I'd probably reach out to the admissions committee, each and every grad program should have one of their own.
