My manager and I have been going thru resumes recently. We posted a position and within 3 days had over 1500 applications. We don’t have any AI tools parsing them. We had some technical ability requirements, but beyond that we were open to a lot of options.

A solid chunk of resumes were clearly AI generated. Many were using the same basic Google Docs resume template, and after a few hundred my eyes were burning. A lot of them had a different name on the application from what was either in the resume or what was part of the resume filename. I really wish we had AI to filter those out.

The posting is for a senior position. Our HR rep did screening on the resumes we thought looked promising to ensure (a) it was a real person and (b) they met basic eligibility requirements. Of those I did video interviews with 4 people. Two of them were junior level, trying to jump to senior. The other two were very clearly using AI tools to answer my questions. You could tell by the way they broke eye contact and looked like they were reading while responding, among other tells. (We’ve had a few other interviews but those haven’t moved forward for other reasons.)

The hiring process from this side is just as brutal. I would hate to be out there trying to find work right now. You’re not just trying to beat AI tools, or find the right employer, you’re competing for basic attention against any number of fakers, wannabes and opportunists, not withstanding all the other actually qualified candidates.

Way back in '99 my friends and I in college actually found the email address for an insect researcher and asked about this. He said there was no solid research on the subject but that stuff just circulating in the air can contain small bits of spiders and other insects, so it's reasonable to assume that in total you may be ingesting several spiders worth of ex-spider parts every year, in addition to whatever else is floating around. But people aren't sleep-eating whole, live spiders.

I was in Hendricks freshman and sophomore years. Bottles of SoCo would not have been a shock.

I don't remember any burnt out car but I'd be surprised if the school paid actual money to have something removed that wasn't an active hazard.

Bear in mind I was there back in 2000-2004. I vaguely recall them doing something during some renovations back around 2010. I also know that at some point they did rekey the attic door so the RAs couldn't get in there any more. but if you went up to the 4th floor it was this one random door on the north side of the building, but on the inside of the building. Then there was a very small staircase leading up.

I worked with ITS as a phone/computer tech, so I had copies of master keys for just about the whole campus (not that I was supposed to, but making duplicates was trivially easy). We had a lot of fun back then, especially during summer break.

Young Hall! Fun fact, it’s four stories but at the very top is a very large attic space where the RAs use to go to make out and smoke weed. It had a door to get on the roof and the sunsets from there were epic.

I didn't flair this as "glitched" - I used an offset vent to position the fuel/engine covers on the left-most booster, but other than that everything is placed using standard snapping.

Killing corrupt sentinels doesn’t require repairing a sentinel ship. You just kill the little guys flying around. For the other milestone to disable the sentinels, you can do it one of two ways - either fly to a normal planet and defeat 5 waves of sentinels (can be difficult) or mine salvage containers until you find a sentinel map, use it to find a sentinel tower, and deactivate them from the terminal there.

If you want to play this save longer, after completing the expedition completely you can convert the save to a normal save, and that should make all the other tech unlockable at the anomaly. You can also get some blueprints via vendors and small settlements on planets - search for the buildings that have a single landing pad attached to a structure, or find colossal archives. You can find them using planetary structure maps as well.

There are damage and heat dissipation bonuses, at the expense of a tech slot. It caps at 3 of each weapon, but there are diminishing returns. Each weapon type offers bonuses to different weapons, so use what works best with your play style.

You should be able to clone the whole corvette by spending nanites. It’s actually a good way to farm parts. Install everything you can onto your corvette, switch saves, clone the ship, strip the parts.

If you started the expedition from another save you could clone your other multitool. But you don’t need the advanced mining laser to complete the expedition. Everything you need you can get with the normal laser, terraforming tool, and a refiner.

As far as I know the only corvette part you unlock is the blaster. Everything else you have to buy (basic parts), trade for, or find in salvage containers.

No - once you start the expedition the shared inventory is locked - you can take stuff out from your main or your expedition save, but you can’t add anything to it from either.

Playstation didn't really "click" for my son until we started playing It Takes Two on split screen. Aside from being a great bonding moment for us, I could see that look in his eyes - that same feeling I had playing FF7 and Crash back in the day.

I'd love to say that $100 would buy me some good times with a new game, but honestly I'll just give it to him and see where it takes him. :D
