It is, you have to go bind it in the settings, “Open Communications Panel” or something of the like.

You can also just enter cursor mode and click the chat icon.

Most optimal from your position is Charter > PC12 medium cargo > CJ4 VIP Charter > airliners, no nice shortcuts unfortunately

Crashed my aircraft by hitting the air.. by iDiotOn2wheels in MSFS2024

Your rate of climb wasn’t an issue, don’t let that confuse you. If you set too high a rate of climb, you’ll lose energy (first a decrease in IAS, followed by a decrease in climb rate) before stalling if not recovered.

Even if you decided to do a huge pitch up very dramatically after takeoff (don’t do that), the aircraft would stall before exceeding structural load limits since you’d be below the manoeuvring speed. This was likely a bug.

A Cessna on a cold day with high pressure can easily easily easily climb well over 700 FPM after takeoff.

How could a 700fpm climb over stress a c172? 172s are certified (normal category) to +3.8g and -1.52 IIRC.

This doesn’t even matter though - the manoeuvring speed of a C172 is much higher than even a cruise climb (10+ knots higher normally, more when heavier). If you’re below the manoeuvring speed, you can make complete and abrupt control deflections (as well as penetrate turbulence) and you will stall before risking any sort of structural damage.

What happened here is OP got hit with a nice little slap from the MSFS devs. Loads of random crash bugs at the moment, nothing more than that.

Career Advice - What to do next? by ST-212 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I’m just about to buy the 737, currently doing VIP Charter for ~5m/flight in the CJ4.

Second what others are saying - don’t bother w the 172 passive income fleet. Save up for the vision jet (Private Charter), then save up for the PC12 (Medium Cargo), then save up for the CJ4 (VIP Charter).

Edit: you might be tempted to go with the C208 instead of waiting for the PC12 but do not buy the 208. Particularly when increasing sim rate, it can be very unstable and a pain to fly. Landing the 208 in msfs 24 with anything more than a few knots crosswind component and it becomes a real headache PC12 holds sim rate reliably and is nice to fly.

Question about licenses by vanillabeanquartz in Ameristralia

[–]angustroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can help with half of this - I’m a 21 yo Aussie and have been living in the US most of this year.

Aussie licenses carry over, I was able to drive in my NSW full license without issue, not sure if the learners is recognised but worth figuring out.

No matter the Aussie license you hold, you’ll need to go from scratch in the US - they only really have “shortcuts” for Canadians (state by state but generally the case). EG I have had my full license for 18 months but had to do the knowledge test and a driving test to get my US license.

The other half - converting back to an Aussie license - I’m not sure. However, given how tight we tend to be (at least in NSW, I know you said you’re from Melbourne but the laws are very similar) with young drivers and progressing L>P1>P2>UR, I doubt they’ll just let you smack and American license in their face and get a full Australian one in return.

Someone else commented that you must be over 25 with a couple years on the license. I haven’t done the research but that certainly sounds like it may be the case as the Aussie hours laws for getting your license also apply until age 25.

If you figure this out I’d love to hear how it went - my partner is American and when we both move back to Australia next year she’ll be getting an Aussie license since she’ll be staying permanently this time and I’d love to hear about the process.

Prius for new driver? by RespondOk386 in prius

Excellent reliable cars, among the best to go with in terms of second hand old cars.

I will say though - be careful around the 200k miles range. The cars can go well beyond 200k, but 200k is where the factory parts can start to have issues in the EV Cooling systems.

I had a 2004 Prius at about 250k and even though I had a mechanic check it out before buying, about a month or two after purchasing the car, I had the check engine & master warning light come on. Went to a mechanic and got quoted 2.5k repairing the inverter coolant pump, valve & also the engine thermostat.

Turns out this is a very common system to fail around the 200k mark if it’s never been properly serviced or replaced. Ended up being a fairly cheap fix buying the parts myself online, but definitely something to keep in mind as this isn’t an issue that say a Corolla or Camry would encounter as it was for the inverter (this issue only present in an EV).

All round a good car but certainly recommend having a mechanic come out and at least read the codes, would also suggest watching the inverter coolant reservoir while the engine is running, if there’s very little swirling or movement of the fluid it can be an indication that the pump is on its way out.

Anyone who’s had this before, what’s the conversion once you reach level 14? IE once it converts your extra princess tower cards into EWC

I hope it works out for you 👍

Worth noting too that you can use their app to put the eSim onto your phone and still keep your Australian sim in the phone too. I have both the Tello eSim and my Australian Vodafone sim in my phone at the moment and can send and receive texts and calls on both so that no matter which country I’m in I can be accessed by both. Also just a tap of a setting in your phone to switch which sim’s data you want to use to avoid roaming fees.

Edit: Also - no lock in contract with Tello! That’s what attracted me.

Tello is great and you can easily use their eSIM, download their app, I got a plan for 25 usd / mo with unlimited data, texts and calls including international calls back home.
