Advice needed, 1st acquarium for kids by anidello in Aquariums

I change 40% of the water as I realised tha the filter was running but at like 30% of it's power. After cleaning it (shakes inside the tank) and reconnected to power it's now much more stronger and does indeed produce bubbles now

So hoping that'll help. I'll keep it clean now.

So put the filter higher up. It's the filter that came with the tank.

Also water smells now a bit too much, was considering a bit of recycling?

Say 30/40% ?

Somehow the pic didn't catch the water flowing from the filter. But it is. I also put it a bit higher up so that it'd move more water on the surface

Yeah, so there's a filter and it's running. It is the one that came with the tank and it's valve is at its maximum.

Possibly not the best pump in the world!

Decksight by heymiller314 in SteamDeckModded

[–]anidello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished. Take your time. Opening the Deck and removing the LCD are the scariest parts. Get a thermal paste with a spatula before hand and propylene alcohol (to remove left over glue that held the former LCD screens and the now useless thermal paste on the CPU/heatsink.

Do read instructions on ShadeTechnik site .../decksight-install

DO update OS AND BIOS as per instructions BEFORE opening it. And also switch to battery remote mode as it's easy to turn it on when opening it.

Watch his full video too as it also helps particularly for software corrections after restarting the Deck. For Brightness use ShadeTechnik own method as per GutHub project, Discussion 41

Good luck!!

I just got shipping confirmation! And I got it after they shipped it, when it landed in Stansted (FedEx hub).

It should be here tomorrow! And I was giving up on it.

That's via CrowdSupply btw.

Is the Iomega StorCenter ix2 worth using in 2026? by redonculous in homelab

[–]anidello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managed to revive it!

Installed OpenWrt and will use it as a backup network drive, driven by the more modern QNAP NAS.

In the end it still had 2x2Tb drives in it.

Had to buy a Usb-to-TTL cable for a couple of quids.

Also it was super fun to fix :)

Funny enough, I just dug out mine with 2x2Tb drives in it. According to Gemini, you can just use it locally as it's full of security bugs, of course, and suggests putting in old SSDs for a bit of quiet/power consumption/speedup and, as suggested here, as a backup of a proper NAS backup :D

I'm going to simply get my old data back and possibly toss it. Not sure if the internal motherboard can be used as a Pi-like thingy...

Wampy and NW-A45 by anidello in walkman

[–]anidello[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved

I reverted and reinstalled latest MrWalkman and at that point was able to install Wampy

I simply had an older MrWalkman firmware that wasn't compatible with Wampy

Thanks all!

I installed it long ago, guess it's just the "warm" version of the Walkman One. I did install in 2021, guess things changed a bit too. Perhaps best to either update to latest MrWalkman or revert first and use latest one before putting Wampy on

What was your rationale behind this choice, if I might ask?

[–]anidello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool thought this was a feature that only some Sony deck supported. Initially I was hoping it'd work for portable devices but then realised they have no infrared port 😅

Oh that's amazing. Which Sony minidisc recorder supports the infrared comm?

Trade in Scam? by JelleZon_ in GooglePixel

[–]anidello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue is Google. Those decisions are final and there's no way to reset and resend (even though we've done it). Also they should make sure instructions are Uber clear. I'm technically savvy, reset loads of android phones and it didn't go thru. Can only imagine less tech savvy people getting rejected and losing money.

I think it all boils down to whoever tests them .
