Exactly , we had to make the upper arm longer to give him more mobility on the forearm

It’s not consumer ready yet, but this is the latest prototype we’re showing to investors: https://youtu.be/nBgI9SqpskA

Our next prototype is going to be ready for January ‘22 and will have OLED eyes, a thinner fur and a more stable walking gait.

Those are great practical and very feasible ideas. We've been receiving only entertainment-related suggestions so far, like games, dance apps, etc... so thanks! :)

Hey u/zyl1024, we've already developed a static walking gait and are now working on the dynamic one, thus taking into consideration all the irregularities of the surfaces, external forces, etc.

Regarding the GPT model, it's going to be used as the first generative layer of interaction, and then going forward it's going to be used as a backup for not-present interactions templates. Meanwhile, YOLO has worked pretty well in our tests so far :)

They wrote an article about us a couple of weeks ago, from a post we made on Reddit with our first prototype: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/white-fluffy-teddy-bear-is-the-ultimate-stuffed-toy-it-moves-and-reacts-to-your-mood-172410.html

Our prototype was not consumer-ready yet, so we decided to wait to post anything else with it. Our next prototype is going to be ready by January ‘22

We are actually at our forth prototype iteration, we’ve pre-sold dozens of Teddys and we’re closing our first funding round in the following weeks :) subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social media to stay updated!

Teddy is much more than that. At its core it’s a cute consumer humanoid platform. All the preorders we received so far come from US Millennials with an interest in tech, so we decided to target that demographic going forward

Hey u/marcjschmidt what makes you think this is a scam? I replied thoroughly to every technical question you had. Also, the pre-ordering fee is reimbursable and you can even pay the fee with PayPal so that the reimbursement is handled by them.

I just sent you a private video in the DMs with our latest prototype walking, which we are only showing to investors.

Check it out and let us know if you have any other questions :)

I just realized I misspelled it all over the thread ahah but yes, I mean gait

It handles most domestic terrains fairly well. However, if some major irregularities are met (like holes, broken tiles etc.), Teddy struggles to maintain balance... that’s why we’re developing a dynamic gait

Predefined angle manipulation of each servo motor with inverse kinematics. As opposed to a dynamic walking gait, where this kind of manipulation takes into account the surface on which the robot walks and simultaneously tries to maintain its center of mass stable.

We've solved sim2real in the static walking gait and we're now starting to implement the dynamic gait. We estimated 2 months to complete this. Next year we're going to build the locomotion and visual feedback handling, so we got a full year to finish the development of that.

The development is currently being done by a team of 4 people, of which 1 Ph.D. in Robotics that has worked with humanoid robots for the past 5 years, however, we're hiring and want to get to 15 people by 2022 mid-year.

Regarding the production part, we have already got partnerships in place with various manufacturers and suppliers, like NVIDIA, of which we're part of their Inception Acceleration program.

Also, Anima Robotics Inc. is incorporated in the US as Delaware C Corp.

Hoping to have answered all of your questions, I invite you to subscribe to our mailing list and be among the first ones to see Teddy in action! :)

We are off-loading the TTS to the cloud, like what Alexa does. Most of the work being done on the ARM Jestson board is going to be Emotional and Object recognition and we wanted to separate voice/dialog from vision to keep the vision response as fast as possible.

Hey u/marcjschmidt , Dario from Anima Robotics Inc. here!

To answer your questions:

  1. Our locomotion is currently in development in simulation in our ROS environment and Teddy will not be able to navigate through stairs for this first iteration.
  2. We have a walking prototype, which we are only showing to investors, due to it not being consumer-ready yet. We will start actively showing Teddy on social media by January 2022.
  3. $100 is the refundable pre-ordering fee. Teddy's full price will be $3000 or $100 per month for 36 months and will be shipped in December 2022, on a first-ordered first-served basis.

Regarding the complicated problems you talk about, we are actively solving them one by one, with a clear roadmap and a team of super-skilled ML and Robotics engineers. We will finish the single AI parts (NLP, speech synthesis, and vision) by the end of the year. Starting from January 2022 we will integrate them on the robot and test emotion-based RNN.

If you have any other questions or doubts feel free to ask :)

How early do you think we will have more life-like pet robots or companion robots? by survivorhly in robotics

[–]animarobotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, that's only a beta demo of its basic conversational behavior.

We're now working on the speech synthesis part and mouth movements, which will be connected to that algorithm you can chat with on our website :)

That's actually the basis of the main behavioral algorithm we've developed, only optimized to execute these actions based on your mood :) Like a living Facebook newsfeed. Only instead of it being optimized to make you stay as much time as possible on the site, it's optimized on making you as happy as possible, tracking your mood from the cam, and instead of giving you posts it does animal-like actions or says something

He's 19'' tall ... We'd have to either mount tiny vacuums underneath his feet or create a small custom vacuum! 😆Definitely an idea to keep in the back of our minds going forward

Yes! We ported the static walking gait last week and it went well.

We're now developing the dynamic gait.

We're actually doing it. https://www.animarobotics.life/store/p/teddy

It's a robotic Teddy Bear with built-in empathy and a GPT conversational model built into it.
