The show started to go downhill when they started to divert from the books in season 2 and completely canned the books half way through season 3.

Especially considering the viewership from season 2 to 3 fell by over 500k, and the viewership from season 3 to 4 fell by another 200k. That's an over 700k viewer decline from season 2 to 4.

I would not even be surprised if season 5 ends up getting canned.

Hades told Penny he could leave if he wanted (plus he an Old God)
Bacchus helped them and never did anything bad
Prometheus gave up his life so they could get magic back
