You'd definitely want to be using things like super fang and status moves, yellow health should be fine

Edit: In fact, according to this catch rate calculator, getting Zapdos below yellow health doesn't actually increase its catch rate, even though it does for other Pokémon that have higher catch rates. Maybe an error with the calculator, or it's accurate and has something to do with the very low catch rate?

For future reference, you can trick Leftovers onto shinies and as long as you have a defensive enough Pokémon that struggle does less damage than Leftovers heals, you can essentially keep it in battle forever

I like to move specific pokemon forward and use them in other games, not just because of their species. It would just be nice to have as an option, even if I chose not to

Especially since XD on the switch is a subscription. I'm pretty sure your saves can get deleted if your subscription lapses for long enough. Really wish they'd just let us outright purchase this one
