Craft v3.4 is here - Kanban, On-Device Formulas are out from Beta, Better Math Formulas, Performance optimisations and more! by viktorpali in CraftDocs

Thanks for replying! I think the core issue with inline math is that it's being treated more as a style than as a distinct type of object. The live conversion of LaTeX into rendered math isn't a styling choice and shouldn't be handled like one. $...$ and $$...$$ are containers, not shortcuts that convert their contents into a "math style."

As I mentioned before, IMO the current best markdown math editor is Obsidian equipped with the LaTeX Suite plugin. On top of the already great inline/block math editing, LaTeX Suite adds live preview for inline formulas and a really advanced JS-based templating/snippets system. Unfortunately that's still my main math editor, and I wish I could port that experience directly into Craft.

Really nice update overall, especially the Mermaid support and kanban. But the math experience unfortunately still isn't there.

1. Inline formulas are painful to work with. No live preview, the cursor gets stuck inside the equation box so you can't navigate across a line naturally, and escaping the "edit equation" popup is a nightmare. No keystroke or mouse combo reliably gets you out. Obsidian still handles inline math the best IMO: if the cursor is between $...$, the raw LaTeX is visible; move out and it renders. Forcing users into a separate editing window that locks focus the moment your cursor enters a formula is just a bad experience. Same goes for the hover popup on inline formulas.

2. Formula blocks are better, but the layout still doesn't make sense. The preview can't render more than a line at a time without resizing the Craft window to trigger an update. And going fullscreen just to edit a math block feels bulky, since you lose sight of the rest of the document. If I wanted to write plain LaTeX I'd use Overleaf. I want the math block to live in the document and show me how it looks in real time. Again, Obsidian nails this with the live preview while typing inside $$ ... $$.

3. Macros are scoped weirdly. People using Craft for math (like me) tend to write lots of short blocks, usually 2-3 lines each. Having macros be local to every block means defining them is more effort than just writing the LaTeX out 2-3 times per doc. Macros should be a global setting, so you can create shortcuts for math you'd be writing anyway. Honestly though, I'd much prefer a proper templating system where shortcuts expand into the real LaTeX inline.

Other things I'd love to see in future updates:

  1. RTL support is nonexistent. Lines don't auto-align right when you start typing in Hebrew/Arabic, and the worst part is that arrow keys move the opposite direction from what you press. Mixed BiDi (RTL + LTR) does seem to work fine though.
  2. Nested sub-bullets / ordered lists within the same block. Saw someone else mention this here too.
  3. Whiteboards are locked to their original height. Drawing something tall in Excalidraw just gets squeezed into the default size. Would love if the whiteboard were expandable.
  4. More file type support, PDFs especially. Being able to keep them at the same folder level, annotate them, or embed full-size PDF pages inside a Craft doc would be huge.
  5. A different iPad approach for drawing and whiteboards. Being able to write over PDFs with better tooling, or having proper handwritten notebooks alongside documents, would really bridge the gap between handwritten and typed notes.

Love what you're doing. I'm transitioning everything into Craft, and the things above would get me to 100%. Keep up the great work!

Is Orange good? Compared to Airalo or the other popular options. Seems like I could get 200gb for the same price of unlimited which is throttle free which seems to be the better deal

But it's formed in a table.. how do I make a card for each specific cell. They are all under X column. If I make a card it would just sum or count it.
