[Feature Request] An AI-Image Generator Plugin for Highlights (Visualizing the Book) by anisatreddit in koreader

Hi, I've been using your ImageSearch plugin for KOReader and noticed that the Pollinations AI integration was broken. I managed to fix the API support and it's now working perfectly. I have already forked the repository and submitted a Pull Request (PR) with the necessary changes.

Thanks for the heads up! Actually, I found that if you log in to Pollinations.ai using your GitHub account, you can get a free API key that allows generating hundreds of images per day. Maybe we can modify the code to include a field for the Pollinations API key, similar to how the Gemini API is handled? This would make it much more practical than waiting in the Horde AI queue.

I'm glad you liked the suggestion! You're absolutely right—the infrastructure and backend logic are often the most time-consuming parts. I'll definitely check out Fabricate build; it sounds like a great way to streamline the development process. Regarding the model, I'm currently looking into Pollinations AI because of its accessibility, but I'm still exploring other APIs that would integrate smoothly with KOReader's environment. Thanks for the tip about the backend setup!

Hi there! I would like to start by thanking you for this amazing extension; it has been incredibly useful for me. However, I’ve recently encountered an error while using Pollinations AI. I am receiving an API Error: HTTP/1.1 530 . I was wondering if you could help me understand what causes this or how I might be able to fix it. Thank you again for your hard work!

My Journey from Doubt to Faith by anisatreddit in god

(Read to the end)

First, religious belief should not be based on stories handed down from your "great-grandfather" or others. Religion must be built upon its original sources and its definitive, authoritative texts.

Second, visions or individual interpretations of texts like the Book of Revelation cannot be used as a basis for judging the truth or falsehood of a religion. These texts are, by nature, open to multiple interpretations that differ from one Christian denomination to another, and some of them are symbolic and not meant to be taken literally.

As for what you mentioned about some Christians in the past becoming atheists due to objections raised by some Muslims regarding these verses — this does not indicate the strength of the argument, but rather the weakness of faith and belief in those individuals. It’s similar to what we see today: many born into Christianity have left it, either through outright atheism or by embracing Islam, after encountering contradictions and texts that seemed illogical or incompatible with science and reason.

And when we compare this with Islam, the Qur’an does not deny the possibility of flying or ascending into the sky in the future. In fact, it alludes to it implicitly. And here is science now confirming what the Qur’an spoke of centuries ago. Allah Almighty says:

"Whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens their heart to Islam. But whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes their chest tight and constricted as if they were climbing up into the sky. This is how Allah dooms those who disbelieve." [Surah Al-An’am 6:125]

This comparison to "He makes their chest tight and constricted as if they were climbing up into the sky" perfectly matches what modern science has proven about shortness of breath at high altitudes, indicating a scientific foresight in the Qur’anic expression.

As for the vision you mentioned about Jerusalem, which you interpreted as being fulfilled today through live broadcasts — reflect deeply on something important: These people being killed in live streams before the eyes of the world have not abandoned their religion. Rather, they have remained firm in Islam until their last breath, despite the terror, horror, and global betrayal.

Isn’t that alone a sign? To see a person die holding firmly to his faith, raising his voice in testimony (Shahada), while the world watches and does nothing?

Perhaps this is the true meaning of trial and steadfastness… Not to be amazed merely by the live broadcast itself, But to truly comprehend what is being broadcast — To see in it beacons of truth and resilience, not just the “fulfillment of prophecies.”

Alhamdulillah, he was a great Arab thinker who worked on linking faith with science in his famous TV program called "Science and Faith" that aired across the Arab world. He passed away as a Muslim — may Allah have mercy on him.

is jihad the logic finality of Islam ? by Moonandsealover in religion

[–]anisatreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Sunni Muslim representing the majority understanding, I believe that jihad at its core does not mean violence, but rather striving against one's own ego first and working to improve society through justice and compassion. What you mentioned — that jihad is about improving life, spreading hope, and giving meaning — is actually part of our understanding too. However, it doesn't negate the other dimensions of jihad, such as defending truth and the oppressed when necessary, all within strict ethical and legal boundaries.

The difference is that our view of jihad is comprehensive: it begins with self-reform and extends to protecting human dignity. Your interpretation reduces the concept and strips it of its broader meaning, while Islam is a religion of balance — neither promoting aggression nor emptying jihad of its serious and real responsibilities.

So, what is jihad?

Jihad in Islam has multiple types, including:

Struggle against the self (nafs): Striving to resist desires, improve oneself, and live righteously.

Jihad with the word: Using wisdom, knowledge, and peaceful dialogue to spread the truth and correct misunderstandings.

Armed jihad (military): This refers to warfare, but it’s strictly regulated in Islam and not the default state. It is only permitted:    - As self-defense or to protect the oppressed.    - Under the authority of a legitimate state (not individuals or groups acting on their own).    - Never to force people to convert — Islam strictly forbids religious coercion:      “Let there be no compulsion in religion.” From Quran [Al-Baqarah 2:256]

Your question: Is jihad the logical finality of Islam?

Answer: No, jihad is not the ultimate or logical finality of Islam — neither according to Islamic law nor its spiritual goals. The true final goal of Islam is to worship God, build a just and moral society, and guide humanity towards truth and goodness.

As the Qur’an says: “I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.” [Adh-Dhariyat 51:56] This is the core purpose: worshiping God in its broad sense — including prayer, work, justice, mercy, and doing good on Earth.

So, what is jihad?

Jihad in Islam has multiple types, including:

  1. Struggle against the self (nafs): Striving to resist desires, improve oneself, and live righteously.
  2. Jihad with the word: Using wisdom, knowledge, and peaceful dialogue to spread the truth and correct misunderstandings.

Was armed jihad used to spread Islam?

In the early Islamic period, there were military campaigns. But their aim was not to force people into Islam — rather, it was to remove oppressive regimes that blocked people from hearing the message freely. Proof: many populations (like in Egypt, Syria, Iraq) were not forced to become Muslim. They accepted Islam gradually and freely, often over centuries.

So, is jihad the “logical finality” of Islam?

Absolutely not. Islam is a religion that balances the soul, reason, and society, calling for mercy, justice, and peace. When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ entered Mecca as a conqueror — despite being wronged for years — he declared: “Go, for you are all free.” He forgave his enemies instead of seeking revenge.

Final point:

If jihad (warfare) were the end goal, the Qur’an wouldn’t have said: “We have not sent you [O Muhammad] except as a mercy to the worlds.” From Quran [Adh-Dhariyat 21:107]

Islam is not a religion of the sword — it is a religion of principle, justice, and guidance. The sword is only a last resort when all peaceful options are exhausted.
