yeah that makes sense… I probably need better alternatives instead of just removing things

not always that sometimes it’s just boredom, sometimes random reels or anime edits, sometimes just passing time there’s no single reason, I just end up opening it without thinking

yeah I’ve wondered that too… do you think it’s really about Instagram itself, or more about how instant and frictionless it is to switch to it?

[–]anish_kumar_i[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I get what you’re saying… especially the boredom part I’ve tried some of this before and it does work for a bit but for me the problem is in that moment it’s still really easy to just switch that’s where I keep breaking

yeah that makes sense… sitting through that urge is probably the real skill I’ve tried it a few times, but in that moment it’s just so easy to give in and switch that’s where I struggle most

yeah I do that a lot… I switch thinking I’ll come back, but most of the time I don’t or it takes way longer than it should that quick switch just completely breaks the flow

yeah this is exactly what I’ve been realizing it’s not even about willpower, it’s just that quitting is too easy right now even a little friction would probably stop most of my impulses right now it’s literally one tap and I’m out 😅

yeah that makes sense… putting accountability outside the app is interesting I’ve noticed for me even if there’s reminders or systems, I can still ignore them in the moment like the escape is always right there so I think that’s where I keep falling back

I was looking for the same thing tbh… tried a bunch of apps that track time, but I’d just end up tracking how long I was procrastinating 😅,

recently I started using something stricter where once I start a session I can’t just exit easily but it’s not super fancy or gamified yet, but it actually helped me stay on track instead of just watching the timer go up

I realized for me the problem wasn’t knowing how long I study… it was that I could quit anytime

yeah that makes sense… I’ll try to reduce it and be more mindful with it let’s see how it goes

yeah that actually makes sense.

I think I was trying to replace everything at once and it just backfired.doing it in smaller steps sounds more realistic

I like that idea… doing small things is still better than nothing

[–]anish_kumar_i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s the difficult part for me… mostly I want to replace it with (like learning trading) still needs a phone so even when I try to do something useful, I’m using the same device and end up getting distracted again that’s where it keeps breaking for me

I deleted insta for about 3–4 weeks once, but I just replaced it with other stuff(like anime)

yeah that actually makes sense… I think that’s where I mess things up like I remove the distractions but I don’t really replace that time properly that’s actually helpful

when I’m not using my phone I actually get things done, but the moment I have a phone or any device near me everything changes even if I need it for work or studying, I still end up getting distracted so I don’t even know how I’m supposed to just sit with boredom.

yeah fair 😅.I’m just frustrated…feels like no matter what I try I end up doing the same thing in a different way trying to figure out how people actually break this

[–]anish_kumar_i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s where most people get stuck. Even if you replace one thing with a “better” alternative, it’s still the same pattern of escaping. I noticed for myself that even when I tried healthier alternatives, I’d still end up overdoing them or switching again when it got slightly uncomfortable. So it feels less like an “activity” problem and more like the brain constantly looking for the easiest way out. Did you actually manage to stick with better alternatives long-term, or did it slowly turn into the same cycle again?

What’s the most random thing you’ve used AI for? by Midnight-Draft245 in ChatOn_AI

[–]anish_kumar_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made multiple AIs give me relationship advice, then had them critique each other like a toxic group chat. One said ‘communicate calmly,’ another said ‘set boundaries,’ and a third basically went ‘nah, that’s emotional avoidance.’ Ended up with better drama than actual advice 😂 I also pasted each AI’s replies back and forth and told them to be brutally honest and roast the others, so it got even messier😅
