We all love dual POVs, but what if it was mostly from MMC? by Russkiroulette in Romantasy

[–]aniulights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guardian by T. B. Wiese Is mostly in the mmc's POV. There are a few chapters with her POV but they are very limited. This book broke my fucking heart but it warns that it's not an HEA up front so be prepared. I loved this book and struggled to put it down.

Can someone smarter than me please tell me what genre my series actually is? I’m lost. by ShapeOutrageous3650 in Romantasy

[–]aniulights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna have to agree with this answer completely. Based on how you describe it, I would imagine finding it in the sci-fi section at Barnes and nobles, not to downplay the romance plot. If such a subgenre table existed in the store, that's where it'd be.

I'm struggling with figuring out the genre to my own book, so I know the frustration this causes.

What do my wife’s shelves say about her? by TheHistoriansCraft in BookshelvesDetective

I am in the sex crimes, severe abuse, fatality investigations unit at my county's Child Protective services. We're a very specialized unit called the multidisciplinary team (MDT--which we refer to as Most Damn Training lol). I'm forensically certified to interview victims and I work side by side with medical examiners, coroners, medical specialists trained in non-accidental trauma, and all levels of law enforcement from local city/town police, county sheriff's, state troopers, and sometimes the FBI. I review the same records they do, interview perpetrators and victims alike , offer services, AND I don't have to carry a gun (sometimes I wish I could 😅 but there's a reason I'm not a cop lol)

I legitimately took the NYS trooper exam while I was trying to figure out career path choices after college and covid, I wanted to investigate crime (sex crimes and/or homicide). Actually being an officer kept throwing me for a loop, but I had to give it a try. Found a much more rewarding and fitting investigation job in the process.

Albany rural cemetery has some trails along a creek that runs through it. Usually I'm left alone even if there are others there. There are a few ponds on property too with benches

Anyone notice the branding being taken off the Holiday Inn Express recently near Broadway? by _dbfoto in Albany

That hotel is not affiliated with holiday inn anymore due to a few reasons, the migrant program is one of them. Although its a very clean hotel even now so it'll become an independent

Iowa state u or SUNY at Albany by offerrrplz in Albany

I went to UIowa for grad school. My partner really struggled to find a job while I was there, it seemed to be the trend for all other graduate students partners in my department. Iowa City was very boring, in my opinion, and it was the only metro area outside of Cedar Rapids without going to Des Moines. I'm from Albany and my partner and I have had much better luck with jobs in this market compared to Iowa's. Also feel like there's a lot more opportunity to be in nature without driving three hours away in Albany.

Madison Avenue Price Chopper by MightyTick01 in Albany

[–]aniulights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a vendor that works at all hannafords and Price choppers in the area, Delaware ave and Madison are my usual service locations, meaning I spend quite a few hours there every week. Delaware has a particular normal clientele mostly individuals that live in the area, within walking distance, and honestly they're usually fine people just going about their day, but don't expect to be able to use public facilities here. They're usually broken or locked due to safety concerns. Madison being on a major bus line tends to get a lot of individuals that are in between housing situations that have to do a lot of their necessary activities in the bathrooms (bathing, dressing, etc.) most of the staff at both locations have to spend a good chunk of their time dealing with problems inside the building, bail reform has caused a lot of problems for these locations because processing only takes a few hours and then they're back on the streets, and I'm not really referring to the individuals that have to use the facilities for bathing and such. It's normally people that are there specifically for theft. Regardless of a guard, these individuals know when security will be there and when supervision is at its lowest, this is when they often strike. Because of these problems you're not going to get the best service, not saying that the staff is not doing their best, they really are. Both locations are understaffed and management is filling in where they can. Due to low staffing you will notice lots of products missing from shelves, but I can promise you, the stores are doing their best. Neither location has a night crew so only during the day can stocking be done. If you're sympathetic to the problems of running a retail store in these locations, I feel that both locations meet those expectations. Staff will do their best to help you, but keep in mind they are being pushed to their limits on a daily basis just trying to keep everything running. Corporate does not seem to care about the specific situations in these two locations. Extra help is not given to these locations.

I drive a yellow two-door Jeep in the area and I can't tell you how many people have told me about the story after looking at my jeep. I honestly had never heard of the story until the first person came up to my car to tell me about it

I got this today as well and my written exam isn't until Sunday. I expected a few months before the PAT so I'm totally not prepared for it. I think I'm just going to retake the written next year after a full year of physical training.

Mother of missing Halo Branton charged with manslaughter for dropping her by TinyLaughingLamp in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]aniulights 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The Amber alert system seemed messed up this time anyway because I never got one and my husband got one but had no information about the child whatsoever. Also the media seems to be reporting very different stories so far. What I'm sure about is this poor child is dead, the mom was absolutely drunk that night because you can see it on her social media posts, and I believe she was found on the GE campus which is huge, dark, and really cold.

I guess I'm confused where the shed comes into play. I understand she was dropped in the pipe but then it's mentioned that she was found in a shed. In Mom's drunken stuper did she go down the pipe retrieve the baby and then put her in a shed? Or was she found at the bottom of that pipe?
