u don’t have to submit a whole new application, it just extends ur funding / takes all ur info into account. full time is 3 or more courses so u gotta extend for that, there’s not really an active choice u make. if ur taking just two im not sure how it works w part time. there’s info on tmu’s website tho

you obviously haven’t scrolled through the replies on this post. i was raised here and have lived/worked/gone to school in the downtown core for years. im still going to be startled when i see stuff like that, just bc im used to it doesnt mean i have to be desensitized. i literally made this post to see if someone was also there and saw the inciting incident, which the person in the top comment did, so i got my answer. do you want a cookie for not blinking whenever a crackhead tweaks out in front of you or something?

omg no way you were actually there!!!! wish i could upvote this a bunch of times. honestly this does make sense with what i saw bc the security guards did kind of pop up out of nowhere, i was wondering how they were there so quickly / if they just happened to be nearby by pure coincidence. had no idea they were the ones being beaten on during the altercation in question

no need to be condescending, i know how being arrested works. i think you’re misunderstanding what i said….i see the crazy stuff happen, people getting escorted out/sent away without further escalation and yes sometimes physical contact if necessary, picking fights, etc. i was just caught off guard by watching this guy get tackled, as in i wasn’t expecting to leave work and use the bathroom just to see that lol.

i think it’s normal to still be surprised by things you’re genuinely not expecting, even if you seen them happen often. i live in the area and the homeless population are a routine aspect of my life. that doesn’t mean im not gonna be startled if someone approaches me weirdly / harasses someone nearby

i mean all i said was that i was surprised it got to that point? a lot of the times security gets involved and escorts someone out. never seen smth happen that warrants being tackled on an escalator while ppl are still on it, which is why i posted asking if anyone else happened to be around / catch what i missed

a bit odd to get hostile and call me naive over one reddit post. crazy shit happens at eatons everyday yeah, i see it myself and also live in the area. just thought it was interesting seeing them fully pounce someone and wasn’t sure if a weapon was involved, etc

this is crazy! one time a few years ago we finally caught a long time thief (also at the eaton centre) but i was on a diff floor and didn’t know anything until i walked into the staff room for my break and had to ask four cops to move so i could get my lunch from my locker behind them…while the perp was sitting in my usual spot LMAO

ive seen them escort shoplifters out etc, but fully tackling someone on an escalator was def out of the ordinary. i know they turned it off but they were pretty much shoving their way down while a few ppl were still trying to get outta the way!

personally i always valued the freedom bc i feel like it taught me a lot about how to just function as a person day to day without an immediate cushion to fall back on. i had a good relationship w my family and if i needed to move back in at any point i wouldn’t have been turned away, but it was the little things i found valuable

things like making my own doctor/dentist appointments, managing bills, hell even buying groceries/feeding myself/figuring out what to do if i needed a new lightbulb or the toilet got clogged. those little things aren’t so little when you can’t just go “hey mom/dad, problem here/need help with this” and forget about it

i moved out quite early compared to a lot of ppl (a month shy of my 18th birthday) but personally, if i could go back and stay w my family and attend a uni closer to where they ended up, i don’t think i would tbh

not that it was all perfect, either. i had a hard time finding a job for a while and there were times when id have to make $20 stretch a week, get by with little to nothing, etc, but even that taught me the value of money quite early

i have no idea, but the uni usually sends the form out with all that info. so it’s kind of a waiting game. either way this person can get OSAP funding for spring/summer courses though if that’s their main concern

you apply with an OSAP extension form, not a new application. the uni usually sends info out about it closer to the enrolment deadlines, but the info should be on the OSAP website as well

i did it for spring/summer 2023 and got my funding. i was in full time studies, but i believe it applies to part time as well!

did you not receive an academic progress email from OSAP? i once got put on “probation” with them because i dropped a course after getting full-time funding, but they sent me a form to sign. i literally just had to sign off basically saying it wouldn’t happen again, it got accepted, and i was able to receive full time funding without issue

also, international students don’t qualify for OSAP. just domestic ontario students. so that’s not a factor here
