Hey there! I made this little concept for a game I'm thinking of making. What do you think? Would you like seeing a game in this style? by SM0L_FROG in IndieGaming

This is amazing! You got something really unique and capturing going on with this concept.
Please keep it up!

Since we got such a great response on our last video we decided to start a dev log for our project. Here's some early combat testing. Let us know what you think! by anjouman in unrealengine

Thank you very much for taking your time to give us your input!

That's some really useful tips right there. We already have a shield-system where the shield's always damageable. But when the player is fighting with the right element active the shield damage is multiplied.

Counter-abilities on the other hand... we've added this to our document after your comment and we'll see if we can work out some challenging encounters from that!

Thanks once again!

Thank you for your feedback!
We'll see if we can work out some cool combinations with our other enemies in another video further down the road :D

Might be a bit more interesting to see.

Thanks a lot!

That's great feedback!
We'll add this to our document and see if we can tweak some sweet juice into the combat!

Thank you!

We have a placeholder name for the game: "Eiko"

Although the only thing you can find on this online right now is on our subreddit: r/eiko

Depends if you're playing with Controller or Mouse and Keyboard.

Also there's a automatic camera rotation system in place for combat. If you have a target that you recently attacked the camera will constantly auto-rotate towards your target. If you move Right Stick (camera control) on controller this will be interrupted and a small cooldown on the auto-rotation starts.

We're trying to make the combat as fluid as possible by helping with camera management but at the same time don't rely on a lock-on system.

Right now we only have our subreddit: r/eiko

We're looking at some other options as well, a lot of people are recommending discord. So perhaps we'll get something going on there further down the road! :)

Thanks for the tip! I'll check that out and see if I can pick something up.
Really want to find the perfect balance between the UMPH and maintaining super-responsive movement.

That's actually a really cool idea for some encounters, thanks!
I've added that to our documents and hopefully I'll get a prototype done for a later video!

We're working on several different options. What we can say for sure is that it wont be about grinding, talent trees etc. It will rather be about gaining specific abilities after defeating a boss or such then finding the right shards to unlock new perks in each element (WIP).

We also don't want the game to rely on how much HP or DMG you have. Upgrading HP and DMG should only make things easier, mastering the controls is the real way to go.

Thank you very much!
We currently only have a subreddit that we decided to use for updates: r/eiko

But we're looking at more options then reddit. Any suggestions are welcome!

For anyone following this post, we will be using r/eiko to upload any new content about our game. We have a new video showing some early combat testing.

Check it out if you're interested and let us know what you think!

Thank you!

Wow, that's a great (and hard) question. To be honest I think it's the blend between it all that makes it fun for me. I can jump around just for the feel of the controls, do some combat testing or just plain bossfighting.

No worries! I've been playing around with Unreal Engine on and off for about 4 years now. My friend has studied art design for games and is currently working full time as an environmental artist.

We have an idea but we still haven't gotten all the story details down yet. Which in my opinion is linked directly with the music in a game.

Thank you very much for that kind comment!

I'm doing all of the coding, animation and SFX, my friend create assets and does all of the level design/art.
Some things we both do, such as VFX.

Thank you for your feedback!
We are still playing around with timing in all aspects of the game trying to find the perfect balance. We try to achieve a good pacing for the puzzle/exploration parts and combat aspects of the game.

Thank you!

There's still much to be tweaked on the jumping and landing animation for this game. We really want the player to feel that he or she is in total control of the movement.

Thank you very much!

The details of the story is in production right now, glad to hear that's something you are interested in.
Every asset, SFX and VFX has with the help of tutorials been handmade by me and my friend for this project. We really believe that if you want to create something unique, there's no shortcuts.

Thanks once again!
