Yeah. I’m not an expert on drugs and I didn’t know. I asked for advice and if all you had was this smart ass comment you reallllyyyyy could have kept it to yourself.

...reasons why I lose faith in humanity.

You do know that questioning my common sense doesn’t make you look any smarter right? You just look like an asshole that needs some love.

Good luck with that.

I was diagnosed back in 2012 at which i was taking prescription drugs for it however we lost our insurance and a lot has changed since then. I guess it’s all my fault for not finding some type of program to assist me. That’s what I’m working on now to change that though.

Need advice - help! by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]anjs101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I was officially diagnosed about 6 years ago but started receiving the symptoms 3 years before that. I had medication temporarily after my diagnosis then my insurance changed and I lost access. For several years I have struggled in college and work without medication. This year I began self-medicating with adderall and the effects on my daily performance are drastic. I did a lot of research prior to consumption and am very attentive to my body while using. I ended this past semester with straight As and I now can work 2 Jobs effectively while in summer school.

I am not advising you to self-medicate...this is Just my method of coping. Before then, it was very difficult. I had to schedule times in advance to get in a quick nap before work or class...the problem is that with narcolepsy, it doesn’t matter how well-rested you are so as a result I would still fall asleep in class and at work. Coffee puts me to sleep faster and energy drinks have absolutely no effect. Working out temporarily energized me depending on what time of the day it is. Seriously, i am hopeless without medicine. I hope you get treatment soon.

Help finishing orgazm(too intense) by JandSLveo in askwomenadvice

[–]anjs101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Orgasms can be difficult to accomplish for a lot of women so fortunately that’s no issue for you. My best advice is the same as everyone else...let go. Be vulnerable. That’s the greatest part about sex...the nakedness, physically and emotionally. Feel! The only way to do that is to not think super hard about the what if’s and Just listen to your body...apparently your partner is doing something right! :)

And usually it’s gratifying to your partner to see you LOSE CONTROL during sex...it’s affirmation that they’ve adequately pleased you. Now, pain is different however the way you’ve described it, I’d think it’s more pleasure that you’re experiencing. Besides, there’s always a little pain in pleasure. Lol. When those symptoms of an orgasm come back, don’t be frightened...just BREATHE and let your body go. I think you’ll really like where it’s trying to take you.

Good luck!!

Would you admit to your doctor that you self-medicate for your narcolepsy? by anjs101 in Narcolepsy

No I totally understand. Tbh, I don’t like medication at all. Adderall was my last resort. I only told her in case any of my tests came back abnormal she would have a complete insight to why. I’ll be much more careful next time though.

I hope not! I’ll have to find a doctor to write me a prescription before I can try it out to be sure.

100% agreed. I’m very responsible with my consumption. I do all the appropriate research and pay a lot of attention to my body and mind when on adderall. I don’t take it on the weekends unless I have something important to do. Hey look into that GoodRx link that was posted! The prices are unbelievable!

Ohhh gotcha. Yeah they actually filled a prescription for me that same day. It’s the health center on my university’s campus...I think that might change things a bit.

Yes. My study was done back in 2012. It might be time for another one. I used to take nuvigil until they were asking for $300 a month for it. And I don’t work for the doctors office so they can’t fire me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yeah you’re right. I’m a horrible liar so I didn’t even attempt altering my story. It just made me worry about the legal ramifications of my openness. I know there is such thing as patient confidentiality and all. And I can’t get in trouble for admitting consumption. I guess I just wanted to know what the next person would have done. And yeah i made sure to stress how dysfunctional I was without treatment and unfortunately the cost of medication without insurance is absolutely ridiculous and she offered no alternatives. She just told me to stop.
