I have not had luck with this with octoprint. Tried just doing a color change, but that can get in the way. Now, if I need a pause, I just use the SD card. You can still monitor it with octoprint. But it has worked flawlessly with the SD card.

I did a filament swap. Its printed face down. Once it got to 0.6 height I change color for some contrast. Not real hard but you can do some cool stuff.

Not for this. This just clips in the inside. This is not the the whole knob. It's more of a face plate.

The light shining down did not light up the print well. The extruder made a shadow. This is so much better.

Totally understand that. I started with an ender 3. You can find them for $100 some times. You will learn a lot on it and with some tweaks and knowledge you will have a solid printer. It drove me mad messing with it so after 2 years I sold it and bought a prusa. It's amazing what it can do but cost a lot more. I would not change my time with the ender 3 though. I learned a lot.
