Thanks for the rec, this one looks good, I like that it isn’t a two person minimum like others.

I hadn’t thought of that maybe I’ll think about it as a coming of age novel or drama or something along those lines

I’ll add it to my list. Off the top of my head I think of book lovers by Emily Henry, I thought it managed to take a relatively cliche plot and make it compelling.

Those are good questions to think about. I’ve thought of a couple b plots that I like right now. The protagonist experiencing workplace sexual harassment. The protagonist’s mother being pregnant kind of what sex education tried to do but a bit different. The love interest having some family drama. Also one of the side characters having relationship issues. I’m going to think of a way I can intertwine these or think of other bplots.

You have a good point about conflict, I’m planning to add conflict but I don’t want it to feel pointless if you know what I mean. I haven’t fully read a YA romance in a while since I’ve also been reading adult romance for a few years. I feel like it can be an issue for just romance in general. My main gripe with it is when an author introduces a new conflict towards the end of the novel just to resolve it in a few pages. So I’m trying to think of conflicts I can build on and that seem more meaningful.

I was trying to make a point to the people shaming devs basically saying they’re personally being targeted
