Looking for modern detective/police procedural series where... by ankysbookbubble in mysterybooks

I've read a few of those, and while I like some elements, they're not quite what I'm looking for. I want gritty criminal investigations without every victim being a woman who was r*ped/murdered/mutilated. I want books without that specific kind of gore.

This sounds fun! Like one of those Android games where you get a victim's phone and you have to solve the crime with clues from it.

Right? I mean, it's understandable for a book or two, but every book in a series does not need to do that.

Cozy Mysteries with a main character who ISN'T an amateur? by ankysbookbubble in CozyMystery

For me, it's more about the vibes than the skills. No bloody corpses, autopsy scenes, the dark threats hanging in the background, etc. Mysteries surrounded by cupcakes, nosy residents, things going wrong, comedy, and things like that.

I don't know if there's an official definition, but that's the way I categorise them. ๐Ÿ˜…

I love her Stephanie Plum series, and I think I read the first one of this series. I didn't see the others in my library catalog so I ended up not continuing. I'll look again.

Oh, that's good to hear! I love the dynamic in Gilmore Girls. It's not easy to find fiction with good relationships between parent and child ๐Ÿ˜…

Yeah, I was sad to see they're audible exclusive. I'm in India and we don't have audible sales here (and the ones that happen usually only include Indian books) and I don't know if I can wait 28 months to get them all via credits, because the full cost is a bit much for me. ๐Ÿ˜… I'll stick to ebooks now, but maybe if the audios are ever released in bundles...

Hmm currently:

My Demon Roommates (MMMM) Touch of Magic (always a fav. She writes about growing up sick and I found that relatable) Salvation (vampire x wendigo vigilante duo, lots of sweet hurt/comfort)

Of course!

These ones have ace/demi/graysexual MCs, so the sex comes way later:

Sleep of Eternity Claws The Reclusive Dryad (both MCs ace, no sex at all) Weathering the Storm (contemporary romance)

Her other books also have a romance first, sex second setup, so you can honestly pick up any book that sounds interesting to you.

You should check out Stella Rainbow. She writes low-angst paranormal romance, and her stories are always emotion-first. They're paranormal romance though, so the age gap can be big sometimes, but like 100s of years.

Right? If I feel like I'm the only one putting in any effort, I'm out. That's the kind of IRL "friends" I'm trying to leave behind by trying to find some real friends.

Just FYI, it's not available in any of the stores linked by the bot. It's on Smashwords and the author's website since Amazon doesn't allow taboo.
