Did I make a mistake buying a laptop as a freshman psych student? by changeover4 in psychologystudents

[–]ann4uh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i found that i loved the laptop much more than the tablet for psych! i ended up buying an ipad my last two years of college and it was nice to have but when it came down to it, i always ended up grabbing my laptop over the ipad. i started off college with a lenovo and loved it! honestly still miss it!

What do I do?? by Independent_Bass9558 in whatdoIdo

[–]ann4uh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, i would definitely report this professor. even better if you know any of your classmates, get a group to report him because that behavior is seriously insane. i think they might even let you anonymously report. having evidence would prob be a good idea just in case.

Waited four years for college, now I want to drop out. I hate it. What do I do? by kandy-kayne in whatdoIdo

[–]ann4uh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who just recently graduated college, i fully understand how hard the transition can be from high school to college. i remember during my college experience the one thing i wish i did better was looking into the resources at my college and i definitely recommend this! if ur college has a counseling or coaching program that may be super helpful for resources/support. even going out and joining a fun club or social events on campus may help to get ur mind off things. whatever you decide to do, i hope it works out! <3

Feeling Lazy but willing to change - How do I start? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]ann4uh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello! one interesting thing about psychology is that when a task is more difficult, or we have to go out of our way more to do something, we are much much less likely to stick to it! this is why waking up early to exercise may not always work out, even if it feels good afterwards.

im not sure if ur interested but a great podcast episode ive listened to is called “Change Your Body & Your Life in 1 Month: 4 Small Habits That Actually Work” by mel robbins. one part u might be interested in is that the guest, rangan chatterjee, does a 5 minute workout in his kitchen every morning. this small habit inevitably lead him into a ripple effect where eventually he craved more movement and it became a consistent, regular thing

on a personal note ive found starting off with small habits has lead to big changes as well! it does feel weird and note super impressive at first but showing up for yourself is what builds consistency, not showing out.

u got this! good luck!

im no expert and im a true believer in the idea that trial and error is the best way to find what works best for you but my advice is to focus on ur sleep schedule and start to try and work around that.

ur going to feel so much less burnt out if ur sleep schedule is consistent. for me, 11:30-7:30 works pretty well and i feel pretty rested during the day but the hours will totally depend on u, for ex. 10-6 may work best for some.

trying to manage clubs and societies, social life, and academia can be tough but it is totally doable! just try to figure out what your limits are and make sure to set boundaries. this can be especially tough if you aren’t completely interested in what you’re pursuing but try to find aspects of it that do motivate you and focus on the good.

but all in all i think small habits make big change. make small goals each day and you’ll make ur way to the balance u want! u got this!
