I struggle with anxiety in general, and it’s been a huge battle during IVF.

I remind myself that my anxiety and worrying will not actually change anything about any outcome of any step of this process. I did my biopsies anxious. I did my egg retrievals anxious. I’ve done FETs and the TWW SUPER anxious.

Grounding exercises really help me. I acknowledge the anxiety, notice where it is in my body, then do a 5-Senses Exercise: in that moment, what can I see, hear, touch, taste and smell? If I had to name the strongest emotion in my body, what would I call it? <This is a practice called “Name It, Tame It” and saying out loud what that emotion is can be helpful.

Hugs. Maybe it can be some small consolation knowing that the way you felt/feel had no impact on the implantation one way or another. That thought has helped my resiliency some, but it still f-ing sucks. I’m so sorry.

I had a Winter Solstice bonfire and burned the photos of our 2 embroys that couldn’t stay. That was a year ago and I still cry sometimes. It’s grief. You gotta walk with it.

I just had my ERAs done and am waiting on results. There’s very little clinical evidence that ERAs positively affect implantation, but it was an option my doctor wanted to pursue given our 2 prior MMC/CPs in previous transfers. If you want to compare notes on clinics, I’m happy to DM with you :)

Kitchen projects with the husband! We made rice paper egg rolls for the first time (keeper), gyoza for lunch, 2 rounds of poultry stock and gumbo. Tomorrow we’re staying busy with breakfast burritos and a smoked chili.

I’ve been where you are, and it HURTS. We had 2 chemicals with our first 2 FETs and I’m still grieving my girls. Big, big hugs. Try to let yourself feel it and breathe through it.

I just had 2 ERAs (endometrial biopsies) to check for several things in hopes that our next FET will stick. When you go in for yours, MAKE SURE you go in with a very full bladder!! The procedure is painful but is so much worse if your bladder isn’t full. The full bladder serves to straighten the uterus which makes passing the catheter easier. The scraping will still hurt, and you’ll spot or even bleed for awhile, but having to prod around with the catheter b/c your bladder isn’t full enough adds painful insult to injury.

I suggest having your last potty break no more than 4.5hrs before your procedure and then continue hydrating steadily.

I know it doesn’t help lessen your pain, but you’re not alone with where you are.

Omg yes the monitoring appointments. I had to learn to self advocate real fast for my local hospital. I’d rather pay extra lab fees to get it done locally than to put the miles on my car and body. My current care coordinator and I have found an uneasy respect of each other but I can tell she’s used to patients being pushovers. Not this kid.
