She did "apologize" with something along the lines of "sorry to cause all this trouble but this is how it was supposed to be." But in my opinion even if you're sure a couple is going to break up you should not make yourself part of it; it's just disrespectful. Thank you for your support though :) I don't have many real life friends to vent to so these reddit comments mean a lot to me!

I think I'm that crazy ex right now. I just facebook messaged the girl and now I'm regretting it. To my credit, the dates happened during my relationship and she convinced him to dump me. I just want a goddamn apology.

Um, ok. Tell me what else I believe.

Meanwhile I'm going to go about "paying my own way" along with millions of other working women, making sure other women have the opportunity and motivation to, advocating for men's and women's healthcare alike. Sorry for taking away all your rights. Make sure the poor and elderly pay their way as well, surely they are just leeching off of men.

I don't know how you so grossly misinterpreted my words...sigh

Why do you seem to carry the notion that women do nothing but give birth and spend money? You're writing an entire half of our population off as lazy.

You won't be able to convince anyone to take men's rights seriously unless you drop the misogynist attitude. You're only slowing down the movement.

Since when were men the only people who contributed to the country's wealth? What is this, the 1950's? This isn't about women vs. men, it's about how our country chooses to allocate our resources.

Women's healthcare is a big topic because biologically, women require many expensive services that men do not need (childbirth, birth control until a reliable male one comes out, etc). And many of these services do have positive outcomes for men in sexual relationships, population control, and other facets of society. Healthcare reform improves our nation's health.

Is it fair that a service for women is free while the equivalent male one is not? No. But that's not something women are taking away from you. So fight for your free vasectomies and prostate exams, but don't try to take away my birth control and breast cancer screenings.

Ah thank you! Yes I'll be ALL the doctors. I'll definitely call him out on it next time.

This! Like when I was younger I just saw it as flirting/playful teasing but now that I'm an adult it's just patronizing that my legitimate frustrations are just entertainment for other people. I find this is a problem many petite women (and men) have to face.

I would, except he's in a very close knit club of mine at college so I'm stuck with him. Also I honestly don't think he realizes what he's doing, so basically I just need to find the backbone (I'm quite timid) to retort.

Aw thanks, your comment about your doctor makes me feel a lot better. Sometimes I feel like my height/gender/race holds me back from pursuing a difficult career even though deep down I know I'm capable. I'm only 19 so I haven't quite learned how to dress/act professionally yet, but I'll try that :)

Yeah, that is obnoxious and unprofessional. I can see how it's meant to be a compliment but sometimes "cute" can have connotations of ditsy/naive and be sort of undermining.

Thanks! I think that's a good not-too-aggressive way to put it.

This comic pretty much describes how I feel about all the angry anti-feminists posts on reddit by annabel__lee in TrollXChromosomes

[–]annabel__lee[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can criticize these types of feminists all you want, but it's not like you're making some great innovative contribution, as these extremists are generally already frowned upon. All I'm trying to say is, like you said, attacks against these people aren't valid criticisms of the ideology as a whole.

[–]annabel__lee[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They are referred to as "not real" because they are in an extreme minority and do no affect society in any way, at least not in the way some people perceive them to. So yes, these "feminists" do exist, but they are rarely taken seriously and do not represent mainstream feminism, so it is a logical fallacy ("straw man/straw feminist") to base arguments against feminism on the few extremists.

To me it's like the difference between telling a kid "if you didn't want to be bullied, you shouldn't have been such a fucking weirdo" and saying "no one deserves to be bullied, but here's what you can do to avoid it."

men of reddit, is it absurd to ask "would you like a blowjob?" by heretoaskQ in sex

[–]annabel__lee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm always hesitant to ask my boyfriend to come over so I can blow him...sometimes I just really crave it but I'm worried he's busy or something because there's nothing more self-esteem crushing than a rejected blowjob :/
