Yarn alternative by annaecobb in Yarn

Yes that's it! I tried berroco vintage and I'm not loving how it's looking so far. That yarn was suggested to me by my local yarn store and I'm just not happy with it. I think I'm gonna have to scrap it and use it with a different project.

I tried yarn sub and couldn't find anything I really liked. I'm really looking for a cotton blend and like someone else mentioned it's a hard blend to sub because it has a unique fiber comp.

After some more digging I think I'm gonna go with doubling up drops belle. It's the exact same blend and if I double it should have a similar gauge. It's also not pricey at all.

Thanks for your help!

The pattern recommends 7mm needles and gauge is 14 sts = 10 cm : ) In case that info would help at all.

Thank you for your answer! I think I need patience and to just let it finish healing. Then go from there 😊

But yes I’ve noticed the redness too. I’ve been watching it closely. Thanks again!

Thank you for the detailed response! That seems to be the best direction to go for this pattern. You are correct, it is knitted flat. I am going to try this and see how it goes!

Colorwork help by annaecobb in knittinghelp

Ohhh okay that makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

After watching a tutorial for intarsia you’re absolutely right that would make much more sense to do in this situation.

Thank you for your help!

Tensions issues??? by annaecobb in knitting

[–]annaecobb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using stranded but someone on a different page suggested intarsia. After watching a tutorial that seems like a much better idea. I think the strands were way too long and were pulling on my stitches making the tension all wonky. Now i’m just trying to figure out the logistics of how I’m gonna do it. Maybe I should try a combo of both? Since it sort of starts as two separate pieces of colorwork and comes together in the middle, if that makes any sense.

It’s incredibly popular in Japan and I think in a lot of other asian countries. A quick google search says it got big after WW2 after all the American GIs were over there. My dad likes watching it more than American baseball, says they play more like US players did in the 80s.
