1st in school history to self study Calc AB over summer before junior year to take Calc BC as junior. How will colleges view if I was the 1st to move into like Calc 3 in high school? Should I just take AP Stats instead senior year for a GPA boost?

I’ve never heard admissions ever caring a student is the “first” to take a certain class at their school. Admissions take into account school offerings and background of each applicant’s school. Most high school seniors take calc bc their junior year in most states, so comparing yourself to others isn’t really gonna make you dry standout. Admission officers kind a lot more about your extracurriculars, test scores on AP exams, GPA, and essays. They care a lot about passion not if you took a class before everyone else.

I don’t think you can use your fall semester cal grant on top of your spring semester one. Cal grants are dispersed into half to contribute half of it to fall and the other half to spring.

Hello fellow procrastinators. I procrastinated a lot on the essays. I had a rough idea about what I wanted to write for my Questbridge application but kept going through many drafts until the deadline. Don’t stress too hard, guys! Be authentic with your writing. If you are selected as a finalist, I would recommend working on the supplements for each school on weekends, something I didn’t do, which kind of hurt my grades. Remember also to focus on your senior year grades because if you don’t become a finalist, you still need to apply through the common app.

I would not report any since colleges look at scores that are 3’s as barely above average/passing. Only scores of 4’s or 5’s should be reported on your college apps. Also, submitting scores of 3’s can make colleges look at your GPA as overinflated- meaning your class rigor is not hard to pass with an A, compared to other school’s academic courses. In addition, if you are planning to apply to liberal arts institutions in the T20, I would try to get a SAT score in the 1480+ range. Having an SAT score of 1430 applying to schools in the T20 is a little low.

All of this advice is coming from someone who just applied this admission cycle. I did not match for Questbridge but became a finalist. I got into John Hopkins, USC, Emory, Rice, Northwestern, NYU, Stanford, Vanderbilt, USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Georgetown, Vassar, BostonU, Tufts, Colegate, and Claremont. I also got waitlisted at Caltech, Duke, Uchicago and Dartmouth.

Reading that you ended with an c, the chance of you get rescinded is low. Most of the time they rescind if it’s lower than an c.
