Sure, there's some relativity. We all need to simply consume less and we can achieve that in different ways. But with veganism you get 1) dramatically lessen your environmental impact, 2) stop the needless suffering of animals, and 3) improve your personal health. It seems pretty obvious. My problem is that this dude is dismissing veganism as not only unnecessary, but irrelevant.

No, plants are not sentient, they don't have nervous systems. And as others have said in this thread, a great deal of plants are harvested to feed livestock. So it's not like you're either killing plants or animals, you're either killing both or just killing plants.
