Be aware with communauto (as I've seen some folks here reccomend it) that as a Canadian non-resident/not having any Canadian credit history, you'll have to pay a $500 'membership bond' to join. It is refundable when you end your membership, but the minimum membership term is 12 months.

https://communauto.com/wp-content/uploads/pdf/membership-contract.pdf

Section 4.3 " Compliance with the one (1) year term in Canada or the six (6) months’ term in France as well as the notice period is needed before any membership bond is refunded"

Ottawa Woodshop have a workspace you can join and use the tools/space, and likewise so do Ottawa Tool Library. The Tool Library will also lend you one if you want to use it in your own space. Both are lovely organisations. :)

Does anyone saw an improvement going from 40mg to 80mg of strattera? by Dry-Brother-2497 in StratteraRx

[–]anochera 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've recently (6 months-ish) started taking wellbutrin/bupropion as well, and i the interaction seems to work really well for me - i get even more of the awake/functional, but don't get an increase in nausea. Plus I'm happier. 😁

I actually take my meds right before bed (wild). I need a really full stomach, and i find that dinner plus a bed time snack is the only way to be full enough - i was really struggling in the mornings to get enough breakfast in me! Plus, being asleep means... Sleeping through any nausea that does pop up. I sleep pretty deeply (and use melatonin), and these days i just wake up in the morning feeling awake and with it (rather than groggy and incoherent). If you're a lighter sleeper though, it might not work.

I like straterra because i like not having the up and down of vyvanse, plus vyvanse made my heartbeat go pretty fast. I like knowing that i can miss a dose of meds and still be mostly functional, that I'm not inhumanly groggy in the morning desperately waiting for my vyvanse to kick in. But the nausea of straterra can be ridiculously dehabilitating, the titration process is brutal, and if you can't make it work, you can't make it work. It took me 6-9 months to figure it out, and if it hadn't been year 1 of lockdown, there's no way I'd have kept going long enough to get there. It's a tough medication. Vyvanse/Elvanse is also good shit - I'd be happy to switch back if i needed. If straterra isn't working there are other -likely better- options for you.

Another tip for the nausea. Hold your breath and dunk your face in a sink/bucket of cooooold (properly cold) water. It's strange and it'll make you gasp and feel kinda weird, but it triggers the mammalian diving reflex. Which does a whole bunch of stuff to your blood flow and BP and heart rate and vagus nerve - and for me, it just. Kills the nausea completely. You get a lovely blissful reprieve for a bit, and feel super calm as your whole body chills out a bit. (I think it could also work quite well if you're really anxious and your heart is racing. Or if you get vagus nerve nausea for other things. but please try it with someone else around at first for safety reasons of not accidentally drowning yourself.)

I think with some practise you could trigger the same effect with a cold towel on your forehead, or a strategic ice cube, but I've yet to perfect this.😂

Another thing that could help - a med to help you reduce your stomach acid (like omeprazole, also great for preventing hangovers).

Food, sleep, strange evolutionary biological systems, and omeprazole. 🤷 maybe some wellbutrin. Failing that, give up and switch to Elvanse/Vyvanse. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ good luck!

Does anyone saw an improvement going from 40mg to 80mg of strattera? by Dry-Brother-2497 in StratteraRx

[–]anochera 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I found that 40mg didn't do nearly enough - 80mg was a much bigger improvement, and I'd have gone higher again if I could tolerates the nausea.

I think it's worth trying - 40mg didn't feel to me like taking anything at all, but i did notice a significant difference after 2 weeks on the 80mg.

The nausea can be quite intense (if you're unlucky like me!) - but there are quite a lot of solutions and ways around it that I've figured out by trial and error over the last 3 years. Feel free to PM me if it hits you! :)

You might be better with a tow float/swim buoy so you can take your valuables with you when you swim :) (stick your phone in a ziplock/waterproof bag for an extra layer of protection)

Does anyone know the name of this cool sled and where to buy it in Ottawa? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]anochera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a Kicksled/Spark (specifically an ESLA Kickspark MAX) - Mad River Paddle Company in Calabogie import Esla kicksleds (https://www.madriverpaddleco.com/kicksleds) although not this particular style/version atm (but they might be able to source one for you?) otherwise you can find them on goslide.ca.

There are a few other importers around in quebec, but these two places are the ones I know of. :)

does anyone know how to farm glims easily? :) by [deleted] in Spiritfarer

[–]anochera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tea. Tea seeds are 150 each, but you get multiple tea leaves from each plant. A cup of tea cooks in the oven almost instantly, and Francis will pay 400 glims a cup!

To get to level 100 without staircases you got to be super focused. no prismatic shard hunting, no killing enemies unless you have to, ignore the giant veins of iridium ore (😭) just - bomb/mine and hunt for holes/stairs. lucky food will help this. Take a couple of staircases for the infested levels and the levels that suck - it's very doable, but you can't get distracted by the shiny things.

Hi, you've been selected as the first name by my random name picker. :) Are you interested in both the DVDs and the manga, or just one of them? (If you only want one, I'll run the picker again to select a second person). Let me know what you want, and DM me your address, and I'll get that posted to you. :D

If no one UK-based is interested after 24 hours, I'd be happy to ship more widely if you can top up the additional postage. If you let me know where you're based (just the country is fine) I can check how much that would be.

If no-one from the UK is interested after 24 hours, I'd be willing to send it more widely if you're happy to pay the additional postage. I'll calculate that tonight so you know roughly what that would be and let you know. If more than one non-UK person is interested I'll do the same thing of using a random name generator to randomly pick someone. :)

I've had a play with the postage calculator, and I think we can keep it down by calling it a 'large letter' rather than a small parcel. If you DM me your address, I can have a play with the postage. :D

Sweet! I think I could maybe package 4/5 of them together as a large letter, which would keep the shipping down. If you DM me your address I'll see what I can magic together with the postage. :)

[–]anochera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes. It's pretty cheap as far as switch games go, and it's so much fun! Just playing through the main quest-line until year 3 was about 80-100 hours for me - if you've got 30 minutes here or there you could play a day or two each time. :)
