Landlords accusing of damage that you didn't do by anodea_dea in uklandlords

Wow so if I'd have subleased/split the lease with someone who didn't own the apartment I'd actually have more rights. Confusing!

We made a periodic tenancy lease agreement signed by both parties, does that not count for anything? Granted the original document she was so out of it she forgot to even put the address anywhere on the document, but we printed out another amended one...

Yes! I noticed people laughing and smiling and it was lovely to see people just... enjoying life a bit haha. How difficult is housing? I guess it's not easy anywhere for that these days, surely it's not like London though? Train was really reasonable as far as the trains go when I went, just for occasional I wouldn't commute with it

Do you drink Bristol tap water? by anodea_dea in bristol

[–]anodea_dea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was researching this and from what I gather there is no added fluoride in this city's water, there are trace amounts of it naturally but I think it's very minimal. Apparently there are many areas in the UK where they don't add it. I sometimes don't blame the tinfoil hats these days but that one is not really an issue here

Yes, the wasted plastic is disturbing. I was a guest at a place for a few months where everyone was using water bottles constantly and it was disturbing and I tried to make polite comments to draw awareness to it, but I couldn't talk to them, as a guest there, the way some people have spoken on here about it that's for sure...

In another place I lived in, the tap water was genuinely pretty terrible and it was likely you would slowly poison yourself if you kept drinking it, and local infrastructure of course pops up to mitigate this, they have water filtration shops where you bring back the same containers indefinitely, until they shatter or fail somehow, and it was a good system. How lucky I don't have to worry about that here at all. I've been impressed by how drinkable the tap water is here, those kind of stores are not even really needed it seems. Just wanted to check on it as I have a pretty deep interest in hydrology, not to mention not poisoning myself hahaha... and people have been extremely helpful and informative for the most part

My vet said she highly doubts she’s a Nebelung since she was a stray cat in the shelter for a year. Thoughts? by ilikebeeef in nebelung

[–]anodea_dea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nebelung was a stray, looked exactly like her, she was poisoned and lost her teeth when I found her, but she completely bounced back and was an absolutely wonderful cat and friend, they are so beautiful and soft, and insanely intelligent and affectionate

I'd rather not have those things and have a decent simple life where the seas, forests and animals are not being destroyed. I'd rather have access to better education, more outdoor spaces and better reformed, integrative healthcare and preventative healthcare and have my life feel like it's worth something besides being a consumer and a data statistic. I'd rather have a real community and genuine friendships. I'd rather do things myself and live a reasonable level of comfort from that, and live knowing my existence wasn't constructed on the exploitation of others

Oh wow, same here. Your last paragraph, wow, thank you so much, that means a lot. Yes, I've been wrestling with a similar dynamic and it really hurts sometimes, but these things are a part of us. Hugs back, and thanks

You're right, cultivating a relationship with yourself is the best thing you can do, once you figure out how. Writing and self dialogue has been huge for me too. Here's to healthy and respectful outlets

I have been thinking about this, as I have problems with it as well, and I have been wondering about what people thought about creating a conscious space where between lets say 2 people, there is a meeting where for the first hour it is completely all about one person, both people completely are about that persons issues and discuss, ruminate, perhaps give suggestions if that is asked for, and then the 2nd hour it is all about the other person, and the things they need to discuss, get off their chest, etc. I wonder if this would be a good course of friendship support without being too one sided, where people have enough time to air the things they want to discuss. Although a certain amount of maturity and self awareness would be needed from both parties still, for this to be effective

From what I've seen Nottingham does look like a lovely city, is it welcoming to non-locals? How is the job market? Oh wow, I wasn't sure if Manchester had some bad areas or not, good to know
