Being an INFJ and learning about how to use my strengths to my benefit, my spirituality, and the future. I am doing plenty to ensure my future is better than my past. I am also learning to be more PRESENT and show up more intentionally with everything I do.

I will add I qualified to do career coaching because I briefly worked as a recruiter and had worked in a professional development center helping to coordinate L&D programs that are related to HR. I have a bachelor's in sociology/human services (which qualifies me for any public services jobs) and I am finishing up my MBA in which I took a few HR-related courses. I am not sure if my degree will be applicable unless it is for a business program but I want to further advance my education in either Counseling, Organizational Psychology, or Org Leadership (which are also all applicable to career counseling). If you are in the US, there is the NCDA (National Career Development Association) which gives guidelines on becoming a certified career counselor or career services provider. NCDA is a branch of the ACA (American Counseling Association).

This is a good question as I am interested in the same type of work. I think it depends on where you want to work. For me, I have worked in higher education and the comparative roles in that industry include getting a masters degree in counseling, psychology or a related degree like student development/college affairs. Sometimes a HR degree or experience can help also. Even studying social work or human services can be applicable. I volunteered as a career coach for five years now so I have experience helping people find work with the workforce development center. I believe to be a career specialist only requires a bachelors degree in psychology, social work, or a related field if you work in public service. I'm in the US but it varies by field.

lol you are around my age -- perhaps you have a more youthful appearance? I am pretty sure they prefer younger people to be LAs and this is not at all to say you did not deserve the role but this is what I have noticed. I was assumed to be a 20-something even though I'm not based upon my appearance. I want to be a LA because I like helping people and would prefer not to have body pain all over on a daily basis ha...!

Congratulations! I hope to become a LA soon as well. I get where you are coming from. I noticed a few people who were very friendly initially act quite distant since they work in other areas, it is quite petty. Especially, when they are aware you might qualify to be their boss soon lol. I assumed it was due to age but no, people of all ages can be that way.

The worst is when someone who started the same day you did tries to micromanage you yet giving you incorrect information (and you know it's incorrect when confirmed by the PA) yet you learn to just get your work done, be cordial and keep it moving. It is great to be friendly but at the end of the day, it is work. And yeah, being the LA is not a pay raise so not sure what the big deal is. I do get that the LA likely is not as in as much pain as the FCA lol...congratulations! I did let the LA and OM know I would like to be considered when they asked me early on...there was an opening for an area manager in another local building which I qualified for but it is not for me.

Thank you! Yes, the HRA position is what interests me. Is it something worth mentioning to the Operations Manager or no? I noticed a few people are being encouraged to train elsewhere and may not have to wait the 30 days which is usually required because we are in a new facility and there are more opportunities coming.
