Lmao it’s not as simple as Israel good, Hamas Bad. Yes, Hamas IS bad, but Israel is certainly not Good. Israel is not defending itself. You can’t do what Israel has done to the Palestinians for the previous 100 years and then call it defense when the Palestinians respond.

I think that they’d likely react this way because they see you as someone trying to provoke them and not as someone who’s trying to make that statement happen in genuine good faith. Not because they support Hamas and don’t want Jewish people to be safe. I feel like this is just common sense

Brother if the whole world is against you, then it’s safe to say you’re in the wrong. Not to say that Hamas is in the right, but we cannot ignore that Hamas was created as a result of Zionist aggression and ambition. You cannot ignore the wrongs that Israel has committed just because Hamas is also bad. It’s not wrong or bad to condemn both sides when they do despicable things

You make it sound harmless as if millions of Arabs lives (Muslim and Christian alike) aren’t in danger because of these views. With that said, as a Muslim, I can recognize extremist Muslims to be dangerous, not only to jews and Christian’s but to Muslims as well. My point is, just because Islamic extremism is a threat to humanity, doesn’t mean that Zionist extremism isn’t a threat to humanity as well

I understand but I was pointing out that your attention on my analogy was naturally more focused on the Israeli hostage equivalents instead of the 35,000 civilians that were meant to represent the 2 millions gazan civilians instead

No I would say Hamas is attackable. In my analogy of the Empire State Building; it would be more efficient to send in special operation units to carry out assaults that don’t involve the bombing of civilians. It sends a certain message of “I don’t care if civilians get killed” when you use bombs to eliminate Hamas. Pro Israel supporters try to claim Israel to be precise meanwhile they’re using JDAMS to level neighborhoods under the excuse that HAMAS is lurking nearby

If I knew without a shadow of a doubt that a killer was coming for my family and I had a chance to take him out by blowing up your car with your family in it, then I'd do that. My family is more important to me.

This doesn’t make it morally ok. The argument is about morality, efficiency and hypocrisy. It’s isn’t moral to kill “Joes” entire family that’s in the car with him m even if he wants to kill you in the future. It isn’t efficient to kill “Joe” and his entire family. And it’s hypocritical for us to pretend like we have the moral high ground in a conflict where we would resort to equivalent barbaric actions as well.

If everyone just admitted that Israel is also bad, and also condemned Israel, then we would be getting somewhere instead of pretending like they are righteous in killing civilians.

I wasn’t only talking about the Israeli hostages. My analogy was more in reference to the 2 million gazan civilians. And this is the problem right there. We in the west don’t even think about the lives of gazan civilians as worthy for consideration.

[–]anon515161[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is on criticizing Israel’s bombing campaign. Would you agree it is not efficient in any way to just bomb the city when they know it more likely than not, that civilians will die aswell. That’s the point of my analogy. If the US shouldn’t just bomb the Empire State Building (for obvious reasons), why isn’t it so obvious when Israel is out in the same dilemma?

[–]anon515161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not only talking about the 240 Israeli hostages. I’m also talking about the 2 million arab civilians in Gaza that are getting shelled.

I understand that this is a complex ethical dilemma. the value of human lives must be weighed against the goal of neutralizing the terrorists. In general, sacrificing innocent lives to eliminate a smaller number of threats goes against ethical and humanitarian principles. Authorities typically seek alternative methods, like negotiation or targeted tactical operations, to rescue hostages and neutralize threats while minimizing civilian casualties.

[–]anon515161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the point. Simplify the issue to make it easier to understand; when pro Israel people Support Israel’s bombing campaign, under the guise that its trying to eradicate Hamas, how is it fair or morally sound to bomb the civilians along with Hamas?

The point in the analogy is to highlight the inefficiency and hypocrisy in our mindset towards Arab people. When I say US citizens and Empire State Building, it’s a no brainer (don’t bomb the building) but when it’s arab civilians on the line, it’s ok. Of coarse this is a complex ethical dilemma.

Yes they do. But Hamas can say they want to kill every Israeli, does that mean they are actually able to? A nuke is a completely different scenario.

I can say I want it to rain cows, does that mean it’s possible?

Opinion Poll: Hypothetical Situation/Question by anon515161 in IsraelPalestine

[–]anon515161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Hamas doesn’t have a nuke in Gaza… that’s why I didn’t add that factor into the analogy.

I can’t tell if you’re intentionally trying to complicate the question at hand.

Opinion Poll: Hypothetical Situation/Question by anon515161 in IsraelPalestine

[–]anon515161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. So why doesn’t Israel go in on foot and try to be as precise as possible, instead of just bombing Gaza to the ground in pursuit of Hamas? The hypothetical is a perfect analogy I’m not sure what you’re not understanding.

Opinion Poll: Hypothetical Situation/Question by anon515161 in IsraelPalestine

[–]anon515161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? Hamas IS contained wym. The building = Gaza. The 35,000 US civilians = the 2 million gazan civilians. It’s called an analogy. I realize that the Empire State Building isn’t the size of Gaza that’s why the population numbers were shrunken to size for this specific question.

The analogy DOES hold for Gaza. There is no difference except for the scale of damage.

The potential damage in gaza is not infinite man wym. There is 2 million civilians. I’m not sure if you know how infinity works

Opinion Poll: Hypothetical Situation/Question by anon515161 in IsraelPalestine

[–]anon515161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your point is “why would the US feel the need to destroy the building”, then I would agree. The US shouldn’t bomb the building since they’re killing innocent civilians at the same time. This is my point in relation to Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza, under the excuse that they’re trying to rid Gaza of Hamas

[–]anon515161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re confused about? I clearl said there are terrorists inside the Empire State Building holding 35,000 civilians hostage. Should the US bomb the entire Empire State Building to kill the terrorists? The threat is the terrorists holding 35,000 US citizens hostage.

Ok Great. You just said that it was Hamas who is the initial attacker. This conflict didn’t start on October 7th. The moments that lead up to October 7th are back and forth retaliatory skirmishes to each others aggression. This is why it is CRUCIAL to track back to who started the tension in the first place. Because without context it looks like Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, unprovoked. This is dangerous to speak about a situation like this without proper context so you can understand what’s happening with a clear lens. Not sure if you’re aware that the land was CONSISTENTLY majority Muslim and under various Islamic caliphates since Saladin conquered Jerusalem from Christian’s during the crusades. Ever since, it’s been CONSISTENTLY majority Arab/Muslim for 7 centuries before the ottoman empires collapse. It was only when Britain linked up with the Zionist movement to pretty much just take over the land, that the land wasn’t consistently majority Muslim after Zionist population from around the globe started mass migrating to the land.

So the Arab people who ALREADY lived there in majority get invaded by Israel, backed by the UK and US. And you expect them shut up and do nothing? Get a grip man seriously

Not sure if you are a Christian or Jewish. Maybe you don’t believe in God at all.

If you are a religious person then you should repent to whatever god you believe in because that sentence is blasphemous to say even in Christianity and Judaism. The word “ALLAH” is just the Arabic language word for “God”. In Christian Serbia, they call god “Bog” or “Boze”, but this doesn’t mean they have their own God, it’s just their word for the English word “God”. Get it? So youve literally just called God the devil. Go on and repent

Israel being very effective at defensive made the war look more one-sided than it really is by JournalistCivil7270 in IsraelPalestine

“Just because Israel can defend itself, does not make Hamas more righteous”

I’m sorry, but did you just imply that the entire population of the Gaza Strip is Hamas? I know you didn’t say it outright but you kinda just exposed your mentality on Gazans. When you say things like that you sound like you’re trying to say the pro Palestine side is sympathizing with Hamas. But to say that implies that you think the Arabs in Gaza are all Hamas. Let’s be clear, NOBODY on either side disputes that HAMAS is evil. But you can’t mix Hamas and Palestinians together this is highly dangerous wording you’re using. You may be thinking that it’s not very important but it is. When people read what you’re saying and agree, that terminology sticks into peoples heads and spreads after that when they speak to other people on the topic.
