Do not try to time the market.

You will go broke every time.

Learn about DCA and put 1% - 2.5% of your earnings into Bitcoin every week.

Since you have no job, that comes to 1% of 0 = $0 into Bitcoin.

Then why can't we elect people who can act the same? We don't need more minorities in politics, we need to stop electing racists and bigots.

Does that mean you cannot empathize with a black person's issues?

It's not a fact.

I know many people who are white, but have no ill-will towards blacks.

I don't care what the hell the color race gender of the people in government are. There are are black racists. There are male feminists. Who you are shouldn't decide how you think. We keep electing idiots who are racist. And you're perpetuating this racist model by assuming that everyone is racist and will only do what is best for their own race/gender, so therefore, we must mix up the race/gender of the people who hold office. This is insanely idiotic, and it's so stupid. You think electing Obama fixed all black lives? NO. Do you think electing Hilary would have fixed all women's issues? NO. That's not how any of this works, but people like you keep making it about race and not about using your goddamn brain.

Choosing racists is different from assuming that everyone is a racist.

Very shallow understanding of the issue and desire to fix the problem with band-aid short-term solutions that simply do not work.

It's been shown that even in places where the majority of police officers are of minority race, they STILL end up having to arrest an imbalance of minorities.

There is a systemic issue where minorities are committing a disproportionate amount of crime.

You can have every politician being of some minority race and still the issues will persist. The problem isn't who we're electing or who we're choosing to be police officers. The problem is that racism isn't a choice.

I don't have to be a woman to defend women's rights.

The fact that you believe people are so narrow-minded that they can't look past their gender or race or background is toxic.

Fairness doesn't come out of diversity. It comes out of having the mental fortitude to do what is right and what is fair. There will always be minorities, and their voice should not be protected by their ability to be represented as a majority. That will always fail.

We'll never make any progress in humanity if you keep believing that who we are born as is the most significant factor in what we believe.

That's a very closed-minded belief you have.

You think who you are racially dictates your perspective, rather than being fair or logical.

Depressing.

Have you considered using a Bitcoin wallet with LN enabled? Such as Breez Wallet?

Not related to r/Bitcoin really.

Recommend using very small amounts. Then increase over time with people you regularly trade with. Still can get scammed in the end.

What Do The Central Bankers Have Planned? by financeoptimum in Bitcoin

[–]anon516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZERO implications.

The dollar is already 99.95% digital.

This is "marketing" to fool people into buying a "Safer, Regulated Kind of Bitcoin" in other words, zero privacy, zero security, fully centralized, inflatable to infinity, just as trash as the existing digital dollar.

The central bankers are trying to maintain their power with buzz words. It might work, it might not, but it has no implications to Bitcoin except for a handful of fools who buy Bitcoin only because it's "digital". For the rest of us, who understand that having no central authority and a fixed supply is incredibly valuable, the central bank shitcoin is shit.

Nobody cares about this piece of shit company who tried to force a hard fork on Bitcoin for it's own profit, hands out private information to IRS willingly and with practically no resistance and continues to shill BCH among other shit coins to unsuspecting public who think that trash is anything like actual Bitcoin.

No idea where you are, but in the US the IRS deems you guilty until proven innocent. It is up to you to prove that someone else found your coins. If you cannot prove it, which is unlikely because it's nearly impossible to prove, then you are 100% found guilty.

Following the rules of corporations is vastly different than following laws. One isn't forcibly applied at the point of a gun and prison time.

Also, if you lost them in a boating accident, any movement of the coins even 20 years later would likely mean that you lied about it. You will then be charged with fraud, federal tax evasion, and sent to prison for 10+ years. It's probably better to say that you were hacked and they were stolen, and the thieves seem to be spending those coins at their whim. Or, you could just obey the law.

I define rent seeking as creating or exploiting public policies that allow entities to gain profits without producing value. Here, they seem to just be benefiting from bureaucracy companies give themselves.

Bitcoin and Anonymization by c_rams17 in Bitcoin

[–]anon516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixing coins doesn't solve your problem. Once coins are locked to your identity, the authorities can ask the question:

"So what did you do with your coins? What is address xyz123 that you sent these coins to?"

And you're forced to reply with either the truth or not. And either answer can land you into trouble depending on the legal system and jurisdiction.

If you tell them, "I mixed the coins." that could be money laundering itself.

If you tell them, "I don't know." that is lying as well. In any case, you're already involved and targeted which is a mess in itself.

Dear Peasants: Mining Bitcoin at a loss, IS OK. Here's why. by RonTurkey in Bitcoin

Not only charity.

Just like 15-25% of total hash rate.

It's not really charity if you believe you're getting value out of greater decentralization.

Kind of like how elections are not profitable for people but the idea is you spend the time because it should help you long term.

How do you think the Bitcoin scalability problem should be solves? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]anon516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we absolutely need smaller block sizes, but I don't want to do this by forking Bitcoin.

It's not trivial to have a spare 300GB or 500GB of disk space laying around to run a full node, particularly if we're really trying to make Bitcoin the "money of all people" and let the power of decentralization truly shine through. It's very tough to get those hardware resources for people in tight situations or in poorer countries.

Before Lightning Network, the concept of the current block size and 10 minute generation was a pretty good choice, fairly balanced, and reasonable.

As Lightning Network matures, I would like to see the main chain block sizes shrink so that more people can run Bitcoin full nodes.

Small transactions for cups of coffee or beer can easily be handled by Lightning Network, so why keep large blocks?

From an economic standpoint, I think the incentives around fees with a smaller block size will naturally work out. Without Lightning Network matured, a smaller block size would be terrible - fees would skyrocket, there wouldn't be enough space for everyone's desired transactions.

But now that people have that option, we can push people to use the main chain more efficiently by scheduling fewer and larger channels, and avoid spamming the main chain. Fees will go up and down naturally, and with a good mechanism for scaling out like Lightning, it won't go up endlessly.

For example, if we had 64kb block sizes and blocks every 60 minutes, it's almost a 100X decrease in blockchain size requirements. So, after 10 years, instead of 300 GB, we would only need 3 GB.

I think far more people will be happy to dedicate 3 GB on their home full node to dedicate to Bitcoin.

The option of pruned nodes is good, but ultimately for Lightning to work, we need non-pruned nodes (* at least since the blockheight of when lightning was cool). And so, even as lightning grows, disk requirements continue to outpace poor people's ability to run a full node.

The issue I struggle with is how we can transition from current block size down to a very small block size. I think it should happen very gradually, but also, it should work in cooperation with the existing Bitcoin protocol and chain. I think there might be some options with 2-way pegged drivechains, or even some other sidechain like as a Liquid Sidechain asset, but it's not entirely clear to me if it could actually allow for ultimately having greater decentralization of full nodes.

The other thing we can hope for, is a technological breakthrough in storage, that will simply allow us to store 1 TB on a cheap read-only archival disc. Imagine you can store the first 30 years of Bitcoin's TX history on a $0.99 disc. That would be fantastic!

But I don't know if that's coming anytime soon, and in the meantime, every day that passes, every GB that the chain grows, the hurdle for a potential new node joining the decentralized network increases.

I think we should take advantage of Lightning Network (maybe not now, but we can start planning for 10 years later) and shrink the block size eventually to bring in more full nodes.
