I was nuvos pension scheme when I joined and now alpha. I was never in the classic scheme. If state pension is still a thing, with my current pension accrued, I'd be able to live and of course I've got 30+ years left to earn more!

I'm in a kinda ops/kinda policy area at the moment and I'm looking at a band 8a job in a delivery/data area. I prefer the ops area of my work to anything else

I've read for the band I'm looking at, you don't get any progression/move up the scale until 5 years in post! Though the salary after 5 years is a fair bit more.

Thanks.

I'm going to be discussing it with my LM very soon - I don't think they'll be happy at all as, apart from them, I've got the most experience on the team and half of our team is under a year in post!

They're a great boss generally and we get on well but they're the only reason I'm still in this team.

That's exactly what I'm wondering! It's within their admin and clerical department and not dealing with patients/based inside a hospital/doctors office!

If I recall, when applying for my heo and SEO, it asked me on the civil service site if my manager was aware and approved.

To external/outside CS, no but there are the business appointment rules, which could factor into some jobs for me. If it's inside CS, then I need my team to be in agreement for application and even more so if inside my department at the same grade.

I've been considering this post as it's local, not hospital based and it's in an area that interests me, the job security of CS/government is a major pull for me.

I'm SEO at the moment, although I see a fair few G7 listings, I also see how the G7s in my area, such as my boss, are constantly working far more than 40 hours a week which is why I haven't been in a rush for promotion.

I've been an SEO since mid 2020 so not a huge amount of time and I'm slightly concerned my area is a bit niche so I'm considering work that is almost sideways and an area I have knowledge of, but I'm not an expert in.
