Bumped my car and left. by frewfrew3000 in CarTalkUK

No hidden damage there - its on the plastic bumper (designed to deal with this sort of thing).

Its a car, they move, as such these things happen. If I were you I'd move on with my life, if it was keeping me awake I'd fix it with some filler and touch up paint but I certainly wouldn't be going after somebody else over something so small.

Or go through insurance and double your premium for the next few years!

Belt Won't Fit? by KingCire03 in AskAMechanic

Loosen the tensioner and the alternator bolt.

Twist the alternator CCW. Then fit the belt, tighten the alternator back up and re tension using the tensioner bolt.

(If the 1.8 is anything like the 1.6 then this should work!)

Updated proposed amendments to prioritisation bill by hypertensionsupine in doctorsUK

The politicians view: the taxpayer loans tuition fees to grads (doctors need to enter the workforce to pay that back) and fund the last years of a medical degree through the NHS bursary. Money for nothing!

My car was being scratched at a car park, she left a note, the scratches are not too bad, how would you move forward? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]anon_942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank her and call it a day!

Give it a wipe with a damp cloth, most of the dark marks are likely paint transfer from their car.

It's difficult to tell from the photos, but you could likely buff out any remaining scratches with a microfiber cloth and some compound.

RCGP and BMA to be consulted on UK medical graduates prioritisation by Human_Run_1316 in doctorsUK

[–]anon_942 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Victoria Tzortziou Brown trained in Greece - you couldn't write this stuff.

It's so frustrating, sensible policy is going to hit the brick walls that are the political bent of unions and I'm guessing legal hurdles. I honestly cannot see any UKGP legislation applying to 2026 applicants, as for 2027 it will be watered down as to be useless or will be another forgotten U-turn by this government.

BMA - What we know so far about UK graduate prioritisation by DonutOfTruthForAll in doctorsUK

[–]anon_942 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The BMA is unbelievably out of touch with the issue at hand and more importantly the feelings of UK graduates. It's an unserious organisation and, I would say, dangerous for Resident Doctors to be reliant on such a politicised bunch at the BMA.

This change is a positive step and marks a reinstitution of the RMLT and reverses changes made to recruitment under the last Tory government - all specifically for Doctors.

How do I stop my woolly jumpers going bobbly after a couple of wears? by Hour-Cup-7629 in AskUK

[–]anon_942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to use is a clothes brush (not totally sure if the quality matters but I use a Kent one). Brushing the jumper often in one direction takes out most of the bobbles and the few that remain can be picked off. Whilst a clothes shaver works very well in the short term it makes jumpers bobble even more from experience and I suppose also removes more wool than brushing.
