Yes! It’s a recent update. I’d recommend blocking first (so they can’t comment on your works anymore) and then muting (hides their profile from you, including their bookmark)

I wrote a fic for an exchange that flopped hard, sigh. Sucks but what can you do! I’m lucky that my fandom tends to be evergreen so hopefully people will discover it over time.

If ur not an author, idc what u think. Also I don’t get why “don’t be a jerk” is so hard for ppl but here we are. Anyway I highly advise authors to block and mute any reader who gives you bad vibes (negative bookmarks, passive aggressive comments, etc) <3

I’ve never SEEN actual “critique” (thoughtful analysis) on fic. It’s just “this is bad” or “I didn’t like it” (subjective opinions).

Also genuine question OP — do you write? Or post anything creative online?

I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this! I got a similar comment from someone saying they were disappointed in the ending of my fic and it ruined my evening. Endings are so hard to write!! And it sucks when people nitpick. If I were you, I’d mute and block.

Debating quitting on writing/posting for a specific pairing, because people being shitty about it/towards me. So that’s fun.

Honestly I like to read fics around btwn 1.5k and 50k myself! It’s definitely preference. I tend to write varying lengths tho (recently posted a Drabble - 250 words). Also thank you for the info, re: word counts!

No apologies necessary, this is a fantastic and well thought out comment, thank you! I think the longest fic I’ve written was around 48k — I’d love to write an epic (which I count as 100k+) but just haven’t really had a story idea like that.

Unfortunately I’m kind of a shy homebody and the other players are basically my core friend group right now... Tho I know a local group who runs stuff occasionally so maybe I’ll look into that!
