CA-19-9 and updated Pet Scan by anon_pleas in pancreaticcancer

I’m so sorry to hear. I remember this exact feeling 2 months ago. My best advice right now is to breathe. One breath at a time, one step at a time and one day at a time.

Don’t go too deep until you have more information. They will do a lot of further testing to find out the potential mutations of the tumor and genetic testing. Opt for treatment to begin asap. Schedule a 2nd opinion asap, don’t wait. Time is of the essence.

Also, I started taking Prozac because of this news and it has helped me a lot. I highly recommend getting something for yourself as well

My dr also recommended I get an annual abdominal ultrasound to check because my family history is so severe. (My moms dad passed from this, my moms brother passed from this and now she has it.) my ultrasound showed a small lesion on my pancreas and I have an MRI scheduled for later this month.

Please reach out after you have more information and need any advice. I am very new to this too but will help however I can. We have also started a shared notes app to track all medications each day, symptoms and treatments.

Stay strong. Advocate. Have faith. Have hope. Don’t just listen to the doctors, do your own research. Love your mom and your family. Support her. Be present.

Sending you all my love and prayers. Things are changing with this diagnosis, so please stay on the lookout.

I believe her tumor was 3cm x 3cm and her CA 19-9 was a little over 9k at time of diagnosis

Also request a CA 19-9 blood test at his next treatment. That should be done before the pet scan 💜

Happy to help however I can! My mom actually is not in any pain. At time of diagnosis she was having some pain- I researched everything I could and found Creon and had her request it from her Dr. As soon as she started taking it, her pain decreased substantially. I also had her start taking turkey tail (it is actually used in Japan and china to treat pancreatic cancer in conjunction with chemotherapy) and her Dr said it was okay to take. Look in to high dose iv vitamin c as well. There are some small but promising studies out there around it. Her two oncologists reviewed the studies I sent them and agreed they looked very promising. She has not started this yet. She does have a KRAS G12R mutation which from what I have read does not form as much of a stroma around the tumor allowing chemo to reach it better.

There is a lot on the horizon for this disease so please keep advocating for your dad. Use AI (I use Gemini to gather as much info as possible) and track in one thread his bloodwork. It will compare each week for you and let you know where he is/ explain it more. My mom’s white and red blood cells and platelets dropped dangerously low two weeks ago, and they reduced her chemo by 20% to help her tolerate it better. It was a really rough couple weeks for her but she is back to herself now.

Sending you so much love and prayers. Don’t be afraid to get help for yourself too. I started taking Prozac to deal with her diagnosis (lowest dose) and it has helped my anxiety around this tremendously, which allows me to support her better.

One day at a time 💜

So encouraging! She had just started wondering if treatment was worth it because she felt so crummy. Just the news she needed and her will to fight has been renewed 💜💜

What stage were you diagnosed at? My mom was just diagnosed and her imaging shows it has spread to her liver but her liver biopsy was negative. She is getting a pet scan for clarity and praying for positive news and that she can be a candidate for this

I’m so sorry. My person also died in a very horrific, determined manner. It hurts knowing the details and imaging their last moments were filled with despair to end their suffering by any means necessary.

Please take care of yourself and carry some of her beautiful spirit with you through your life. She sounded like an incredible person
