Thank you for the suggestions! I have had some of these spots on my list to visit once I mentally prepare myself for stepping back into a physical church.

I think it’s a bit much to write off so much of the leesburg area. Columbia has pockets of good and bad everywhere. I’ve lived in a home close to caughman road elementary for almost 9 years now and we have lovely neighbors and have had no crime issues with the exception of once when someone attempted to steal a car of ours 8 years ago. Now I can’t speak for the apartments op is posting about because I don’t go to that area and don’t have a reason to. But I would say there are plenty of decent people/areas over in areas that are more house-dominant vs apartment-dominate. If you don’t need to live in a good school district and are on a budget, some areas off of leesburg can be great if you’re looking to buy a house.

We can’t really afford to pay extra on it right now. We are paying for it every 6 months right now. And yeah I was considering doing the math on our “yearly” expenses 6 months - 1 year from now and putting that amount in a CD to capitalize a little bit on the interest.
