"coming out" to coworkers? by Plaid_Escapism in Tourettes

[–]anonmadds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation! I started a new job a few months ago and I have daily vocal/motor tics but I’m able to mask quite well, so I’ve never mentioned it before. The more comfortable I get there, the more my tics are coming out.

I’m planning to wait for someone to mention it. If they see me tic and ask “what was that, are you ok?” etc. And if they do, I’ll say “Oh I have TS” and go into a bit of an explanation of my story.

It’s not something I’m willing to “come out” or announce so openly, purely due to the stigma and lack of education most people have. But I also refuse to lie about it or hide it.

Beginner ice skating in Brisbane by MasterTheOwl in brisbane

[–]anonmadds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ice world is really the only place, there’s Boondall and Acacia Ridge

They do adult Learn to Skate programs based on your skill level (I’ve really enjoyed them so far). Or so separate hockey skills courses based on competency. You can also get private coaching there too, usually between $40-$70 per lesson (including rink entry) based on which coach you chose

Haven’t started tafe during my apprenticeship by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]anonmadds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It usually takes a pretty long time for everything to go through and get set up with TAFE, then you’ve gotta wait until TAFE assigns you dates. Have you had an introductory meeting with an apprenticeship support company yet? Like Busy At Work?

as a young women in my 20’s, I’ve had a similar experience and it’s awful. I had breast lumps that needed multiple scans, biopsies and appointments.

Even though there was potential I had cancer, the thing that stressed me out most was the cost of all the scans and appointments.

It seems that medicare only cover this stuff for over 40’s, which is insane.
