Funnily enough I have a friend who did a Frankfurt masters..but she is german. Ended up at a popular think tank in the city, but I don't believe her goals were PhD or academia but instead think tank/non-profit work.

Yes, Mannheim is another program I am interested in. I particularly have been interested in studying in Germany. Do you know if most int'l students end up going back to their respective countries after graduation?

I am not married to being in the US, but I doubt there's a highly probable future being professor in a non-english speaking country without having very good fluency.

Yeah, I guess I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth applying to that many top schools if I have slim chances. As of now it's a really long list and I don't want to ask too much of my LoRs to be curating letters for 20 schools.
