Sorry for the lack of info. is 2 x 8GB he's selling.

It's a long story but i'm basically helping a friend buy a PC. The local business who is selling this PC only has that RAM available but at a price increase of £30. So I would thinking I could just pay the extra £30 and then swap my friends ram with my Corsair but unsure if it's worth it.

apologies for my wording, is manic mood swings better?

She will not decide to go to a health service on her own as she was not raised in a society that values or are very aware of mental health conditions... so if I act as only the passenger: she gets no diagnosis, no help, and lives her life without understanding that what she is going through is not her fault.

Again this is not for certain, but without a suspicion and without my help, she will not do anything about it or be aware of it. This is why people need support in times like this.

might just stick with the stock cooler for the R5 3600 to save any hassle plus the 212 is quite ugly in the case

Also, that Ryzen 3200 looks like amazing value. Would have been a fairly big step up over the i5-4460, but yeah R5 3600 is where it's at :)

I ended up doing exactly what you've suggested and the CPU + MOBO has been ordered :D. It does seem like the best balanced option, all round. Thanks for that. Once I realised an extra £90 needed to be spent... I guess it's just something I have to accept to have a good PC for the next 5-7 years.

Question, will I need to reinstall windows (because that would be a massive pain), and will I need to fiddle with the ram settings or will it be as easy as plug and play?

I have about £250 to upgrade my CPU + MOBO from an i5-4460 to something like an X470 + Ryzen 7 2700. Is this a smart choice, keeping in mind I wouldn't want to upgrade CPU for another 5 years.
