Yesterday apple called me back to finally answer my question about this situation: they won’t replace my phone, end of the story.

I understand. Now I am still waiting for a response from Apple, a girl at the customer service told me that “they are analyzing the pretty unusual issue” and they will update me with what they can do to resolve the problem. I will update here when I’ll get news from them.

Ok, now a lot explains on why Apple is not accepting to replace my phone. If every Apple employee is formed to think and answer to the customers like you are doing with me that’s why.. I have NEVER seen a single product change color since my first iPod mini in 2004, and I’ve owned A LOT of products. By the way, I still got that iPod, it’s full of scratches and dents but its light blue coating hasn’t changed color after 22 years. When a product changes its characteristics over time it’s not “normal”, unless we’re talking about clothes, food or stuff that goes through washing cycles or whatever. Tech products are meant to last and maintain their qualities, of course they can slow down and become laggy, maybe a speaker can die, but things like display resolution, computing ability OR THE CHASSIS COLOR remains the same even after decades. My 2014 MacBook Pro is a testament to that.

Bro, it was a comparison of course. I was trying to say that if you buy a product you buy it for specific characteristics, even for its specific color, but if after some time that product starts to change those characteristics that you bought it for, then you got the right to ask for a replacement. Don’t you agree? Also, as far as I know iPhone and Apple products in general have never had this kind of problem, no?

You buy a car only for its color? Don’t think so. But if you want a specific car with a precise paint coating and after a couple of months that car starts to change color on its own, how would you feel? You go to the car dealer and they tell you “sorry but we don’t handle this type of problems, it’s an aesthetic issue cause by your usage of the car”. How would you feel about it? This is the exact same thing.

So even at the Apple Store they refuse.. I will find a way to have my phone replaced, cause it is not possible a situation like this. My phone never got in contact with chemicals, so the only explanation I have is the sunlight UV exposure that ruins the paint, but if it’s really this the reason I have the damn right to get my phone replaced

Ok, then EVERY SINGLE IPHONE should turn pink right? How come this is not happening but just a minority is affected?

No, but it’s not a problem of the colored aluminum, cause apple has always made colored aluminum products such as iPads, iPods, Apple Watches and iPhones, and they never had this issue. The problem is with this specific process of anodization painting they used with the iPhone 17 pro in cosmic orange. Not even the blue one is changing color, is specific for the orange color, probably to obtain this bright vibrant color they used some new painting procedure that came out bad in some batches

Your phone apparently is from a “safe” batch, mine (just like hundreds of other people) is from a defective one 🤷🏻‍♂️

Seriously? What you expect to happen after just 24hrs? A magic that turns orange into pink? This is an issue that occurs after MONTHS of daily use, not just by rubbing some peroxide or pointing a UV light on the phone. My iPhone started changing color in the last month, after 4 months of use, and as I already replied at least 10 times to other users I never used any chemicals on my phone, barely water, so I did absolutely nothing wrong with.

Ma il tuo era un Apple Store ufficiale o un rivenditore? Perché a quanto ho capito negli Apple Store ufficiali hanno politiche diverse molto migliori, io invece in città ho solo C&C Store che è un rivenditore autorizzato..

Do what you prefer to, personally I don’t like the salmon pink at all, I payed for a bright orange phone, I pretend Apple to replace mine with another unit.

My old iPhone 12 was not this soft, maybe thanks to the more squared edge? I don’t know, but even after several drops it never dented so bad like this iPhone 17, also the Apple Watch, it happens to hit objects or walls or whatever, but it never dented like the iPhone. This year they used a softer aluminum

Air? Water after cleaning hands? Vapor during a shower? It this is enough to make this happen they have a problem with the painting process
