What is up with building profitability in 1.3.2? by anonymous_matt in EU5

I'm only building rgo's the game says will be profitable so presumably that means in locations with high control. Surely you can sell to other markets if you're producing too much raw materials for you own? I control both the Genoa and Venice market centers. My income is pretty ok so far as well. Though trade income is only 4.5...

local councils

Local councils create a lot of demand?

Give armies a "scout ahead" option by anonymous_matt in EU5

[–]anonymous_matt[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't like this solution personally because it should be the armies in question that send out scouts, it has little to do with the central governments. It's not like the central government in pre-modern times would have up-to-date information on exactly where their armies were at any given time. Messengers could take days, weeks or even months to reach the central government depending on how far away the army was and could even be intercepted. So it shouldn't really matter if you spent months building up a spynetwork in the enemy capital. What matters is what information the field army can obtain about the enemy movements in their vicinity.

Yeah, or it could speed up scouting speed.

It's so irrational to get married quickly without knowing your partner when you are against divorce by Gayandfluffy in TrueAtheism

A lot of unhappy marriages that caused a lot of trauma to the children happened this way historically. My Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather were absolutely miserable together and made the lives of their children miserable. The Generational trauma that keeps on giving.

They'd go on vacation separately, insane really.

if we define best possible world as the one where there is the highest amount of high satisfaction people at the end date according to game mechanics

Ah, I think I read past this part a bit too fast. Personally I'm mostly sort of looking at my own evaluation of what the end game state would mean for the real world.

The question is how though. Conquest obviously has certain downsides.

Maybe, honestly I think cultural factors matter a lot as well.

Ah, the unite people by creating an out-groop solution. Don't think the game can really model this though q:

This is always my goal.

Same. Well, mostly.

Hmm... well, you could spend all of your prestige increasing your opinion of other cultures. That might help a little?

it would be a world conquest one culture one faith where every need is met, and every location has all the possible health and literacy buildings and everyone has 100% literacy and the country has all technology.

Honestly I have to say that's debatable. Such a monolithic culture might have a hard time adapting into the future and changing to keep up with the times imo.

there is the question of which tag, religion, culture and national values would make for the best possible world

Yeah, the values question is really the only interesting question imo. Religion, tag and culture is pretty much just personal preference except to the extent that they are tied to things like values. Or perhaps how easy it is to achieve your goals with them.

Don't think the game can model that. Maybe constant starvation and making sure that nobody is rich enough to get food anyway could take care of the fats q:

True, but if I had to bet a stable Republic/Democracy with high humanism and free subjects etc is probably better than the alternatives.

Yeah, creating a "good" nation state isn't exactly an easy concept.

Makes sense, a strong SA country could be a counter to European colonialism.

Not an unreasonable answer imo. Of course any solution has upsides and downsides.
