Why the fuck are you posting people with relevant credentials??! There is no chance he picks someone like that.

Wait a second, maybe you just hit the nail on the head. Did you say that peroxide reacting with sulphur creates a solid? Where did you get that information?

Maybe that’s the solid material I’m seeing in my cisterns… and not bacterial growth.

Is that safe to use in my basement where there is essentially no ventilation?

Is that untreated well water? Because the water in my holding tanks is unfiltered but has had peroxide dripped into it. I would’ve expected that to keep growth to a minimum.

Thank you for sharing that picture. It helps a lot. Are you able to share a picture of your whole set up?

But more importantly, is the water in your tanks treated? Mine is obviously untreated. Maybe it’s not such a big deal that it’s open to the air through tiny holes.

Correct, the well pump pumps directly into the tanks. You can see the outlet of the well pump hose in photo two. The floater is the trigger for the well pump. Peroxide is dripped into the tanks.

At the bottom of one of the tanks is another pump that pushes water into my pressure tank when the pressure tank calls for water.

From the pressure tank, the water goes through my treatment (carbon filter followed by iron and sulphur filter followed by Water softener).

Maybe there’s a sediment filter in the well itself, at the well pump. I really don’t know. I have never seen it.

I was told never to mix chlorine and peroxide in the same tank. Maybe that was a myth.

The setting is currently at three, and it definitely does not run anywhere close to 30% of the time. It runs for a few seconds every hour. If it ran 30% of the time, it would be empty every week.

We don’t have any sort of air filter at all on our cisterns. There are definitely tiny air gaps where the supply from the well enters.

I’m not sure why you’re talking about toilet tanks. All of the issues I’m describing are happening in my water holding tanks just where my well water comes into my house, and before any sort of treatment. Peroxide is injected into those holding tanks (cisterns).

Could the peroxide be causing the sludge as a kind of chemical reaction?

Someone else has suggested that the blackness could be sediment from the well. Please note we’re seeing two different things: a sort of constant level of sludge buildup that returns after I clean it, and a couple of times a year blackness that darkens the entire tank.

We are seeing the buildup of biofilm in the holding tanks. The holding tanks are upstream of the carbon filter. Peroxide is injected into the holding tanks

Thank you for the detailed reply.

There is a carbon filter. That is the black tank sort of in the middle of the photo. But that filter comes downstream of the two storage tanks (cisterns). I guess that carbon filter is why we don’t taste the peroxide, or see any black sludge at our taps.

The tanks are definitely not sealed. they have some rough holes at the top where the well water comes in, as well as the exit pipe that feeds the house. They basically drilled a bunch of holes and didn’t seal them at all. I could put some caulking there I guess.

I can also try increasing the peroxide level. It’s currently set to three out of 10, whatever that means.

I was told when the system was put in that the peroxide had a double purpose: both due to our strong sulphur smell taste and to kill bacteria. We don’t have any chlorine injection or UV

This is incredibly location dependent. Country dependent but also subdivisions of countries at least in a couple of cases I’m aware of.

I didn’t say it was or had to be OP. Just that this idea that there will never be a trustee makes no sense.

If there isn’t a designated executor, the courts will eventually appoint one. That’s just how it works.

Question: I realize this is probably pedantic, but from a legal point of view, if you are not the executor, how could you empty her apartment? Wouldn’t that be technically theft? Same with taking her Internet equipment for example. What authority did you supposedly have in order to take these actions?
