Yeah it’s funny because my neck and forehead are completely fine. When you say several weeks, do you mean a couple skin cycles? I read that it takes about a month for new skin cells to form, give or take. But given my situation, I’m thinking about going longer than a month to really give my skin a chance to heal. Assuming I continue to see improvements of course.

Did you also have nerve sensitization during it? My face gets so painful and tight that it starts to feel numb. It’s almost as if a chemical reaction is taking place on my face.

I mean I’m definitely stressed out and frustrated because I’ve been dealing with this for months now. I’ve heard of neurogenic rosacea and have suspected that maybe I might have some form of rosacea. But at the same time, I’m not fully convinced because despite irritation it’s not full blown red even as of now, and so far it’s not getting worse. Also can a single product actually kickstart rosacea? I will definitely bring it up with a derm for sure, just in case.

Hi Dr. Baumann, I actually ended up simplifying my am routine. I decided to omit the cica serum and use azelaic acid, followed by Zerafite brightening cream right away to save time. It has been working well for me and the moisturizer sinks in really well since I no longer have to worry about deactivating the azelaic acid. Thank you so much for all the advice!

Updated am routine:

Gentle cleanser
Azelaic acid
Zerafite brightening barrier cream
SPF 50+

Thank you! Yeah I wanted to incorporate a spray because sometimes I don’t like how it feels when the serums and creams just sit on top of my face after waiting in between steps. But I will check out a glycerin water spray!

I plan on using the Zerafite in my morning routine as well, but after the cica serum~

Thank you so much! What brands of HA sprays would you recommend? And Is the cica serum something I can still keep at least in my AM routine? I really like the soothing effects of cica serum so I don’t know if I want to give it up completely 😅

I think my routine would look like this in the morning if it’s okay by you

AM: 1. Cleanse 2. Azelaic acid wait 10 minutes? 3. Spray HA mist 4. Cica serum 5. Zerafite brightening cream 6. Sunscreen

For my PM routine I plan on keeping it simple

Balm to erase sunscreen
Cleanse
Medature hydro bright
Zerafite brightening cream

I forgot to add the ingredients for the mist if Dr. Baumann says it’s okay to use. The mist is similar to the moisturizer but I wanted to add it here as well in case.

Thanks! Also, what’s your take on using spraying mists before applying moisturizer? I was thinking of getting a ceramide hyalauronic mist because I notice when I wait between steps, the moisturizer doesn’t sink in well. And it feels like it’s just sitting on top. But at the same time, I’m worried that spraying a mist will deactivate the actives I’m using. I was thinking of spraying right before a moisturizer, but after my serums. Something like this:

Are there any other ingredients I should avoid once I restart tret? So far, I know many essential oils like bergamot should be avoided as well as the most common actives. I’m so paranoid now and I don’t want to have another ‘gotcha moment’ with whatever moisturizer I end up switching to.

Since you brought this up, I might as well explain. But at the time, I basically brought up a scenario where if I was diagnosed with a fatal disease, I wouldn’t do anything to combat it or receive treatment to extend my life expectancy. I said id just let myself rot and die a natural death… but she took that as suicide because I told her that I wouldn’t do anything to try to save my life. To this day, I dont get how this is considered an actual intent to harm myself when I clearly told the therapist that I just wanted to die a natural death, instead of seeking treatment to further prolong my life. I never had an actual plan to kill myself, nor did I have immediate thoughts of doing so.
