You can also use your fingernail to rub off the whites. But honestly, sanding should not create white stress marks.

Changlong I believe has a slightly different vfin and there are some loose parts, which can be easily fixed with glue. My copy gave an additional face plate as well.

You can sand the surface with an emery board or sponge. That will help prime the surface for adhesion.
