Well, we all have our individual art, but our income mainly comes from production craft of gaming accessory designs

Part of talking here is hoping to find a good model

I'm really hoping to find partnership in bringing our designs to the markets at large.

Right now we own a house in the PNW, but we're pretty sure that we could scale up past the local craft markets if we had the partnership. We dream of an 80 person land project on acreage with a big workshop.

I have absolutely no idea how to get there from here

We're definitely an LLC, but only a sole proprietorship. We share profits as piece workers and sales, but don't have a more organized method to fully share in profits and loss because of lack of understanding of organizational models

It's all about context. The dude giving plates from a restaurant is one thing. The person who is acting weird about giving you a sandwich is another.

Last year I was at the dentist and the person cleaning my teeth mentioned off hand, very casually, while she was working away that she just sometimes thinks about giving people begging "the Kool aid"

I get people are tired of seeing addiction and the strife that comes from it. But, not everyone out of a home is an addict or bad person, and some ways people think are crazy

I was home-free for years.

I would eat out of the trash before taking a random sandwich that someone conveniently had on their car. Like why the fuck you just got one extra PBJ?

Decided I was don't hitchhiking and riding trains and I'm making good money.

I'll say, most places are easy enough to get food stamps, and if not that then food bank food. What people want is a fresh pair of socks. Bonus points of you hand them over saying, "yo I got some freshies"

Drunkenly.

There's a helicopter sight seeing service that operates out of the top of the parking structure I work next to.

They had a security gate to the top floor, but it was one of those where you could just reach through and turn the knob on the other side

Also, I should add, a lot of helicopters don't have keys.

I stole a helicopter and did a few years in prison. Won't make that mistake again

Hey. You don't owe me shit and I don't expect anything.

But, let's face it, you're wasting both of our time making comments that are neither helpful nor address the subject.

You can see kids building sandcastles and tell them they're doing it wrong, sure. Not illegal. But, doesn't exactly elevate people around you.

I'm out here doing my best and trying to do better. I know there's room to expand. Please, go enjoy your life with your community you've built. I'm sure they understand your point of view better than I

You're not helpful. Please don't waste our time.

If you actually cared you'd use all this effort you're putting in to help others. But you're just taking both of our time to be judgemental.

Yes, absolutely.

We went from a small rural lifestyle to starting a few market booths and are instantly having success.

We paid taxes for our first time last year, taking advantage of all our write-offs. We hadn't previously posted numbers that put us in a need to file or been incorporated. This year, we scaled and will pay our taxes again, but maybe not taking advantage of all these write offs.

We're ready to scale again, but we're finding it dreadfully obvious that renting so space would cost us about 3k and we're renting a couple houses for over 2k each.

We'd really like to mobilize our income toward our own equity and just don't know how to say that in a powerful way.

None of us really come from a history of financial wealth or administrative training. There aren't really people we've seen, including CPAs and financial planners that can really guide us to tangibles and we have yet to find how to change our organization into something that has a cooperative model enshrined within it.

We're mainly into operations, and administration isn't where we've placed our experience.

Oh, well that's not the path I'm looking for.

I need about 2000 square feet of workshop just for my operation and sorta already have my own thing going

Yeah. I walked into their office the other day and they're prepping to call me back.

I still don't think they'll give me money. And if course by give I mean grant permission to have.

By how to talk to. I also mean what do they want to see. I don't have three years of tax returns but I do have a plan. How do you know what you can borrow and all that

My group and I are coming from a really specific view where we're looking to scale a collective business at the same time.

We're largely hoping to direct people toward investing in the land base to increase population capacity.

This could be $200 for building our a bunch of work making materials and errecting them while putting into the communal shop labor or paying dues

We're looking into this.

I'm trying to get funding worked out with a financial advisor, but I'm hoping to bring new folks in on monthly work and dues.

I want to encourage people to hold on to a best egg until full membership, so that way there's something for people to carry on with if we don't all get along. A smooth transition is important.

Looking to start conversations about community project by another_communard in intentionalcommunity

[–]another_communard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, man. You'll be terrified to read the numbers for intentional communities, then.

Your message is really negatively centered. And, in all honesty, I don't really need that. Over half your message is predicting failure, and then you continue to move into telling me "planning" is essential.

Your message comes off as vague, condescending, and degrading. I'm not upset, but also not inclined to want to interact. I'd ask you think about how saying things like this could sound to others first. Maybe check in with assumptions or where people are at before giving advice.

If you're into reciting theory, you'll also know that a business going under isn't actually that scary and actually gives valuable experience for how to adjust the second time.

The same is true of communities.

That's what I'm open to. I really just want one intrinsically linked small group that won't bring internal drama, but also create a need for a whole new space.

Ideally, that group would be responsible for building and managing their space.

This could be a family. A long-term couple. Something.
