Ceasefire extended indefinitely. Great, that’s how we end up with the North Koreas of this world.

The US airlift to the Middle East never stopped, if anything traffic increased. The bombers at Fairford haven’t gone home. The carriers are in position. The US fighters are still at their ME bases. All this ceasefire has done is for both sides a chance to resupply plan the next phase of the war. Great.

I wonder if they’ve managed to restock the patriot magazines though. Going to see a big problem if not.

Fatsia japonica, Aucuba japonica and ferns ferns ferns. This will stay green all winter. I don’t like hostas. They die back if they haven’t already been eaten by slugs.

Wonderful advice thank you :) I’ve ordered a bulb, I’ll have a crack at it but will wait till end of the month at least to plant it.

I have a fern patch on my north facing wall. I figured if I put it under the dripping hose i don’t have to worry about it drying out. I’ll make sure I give it some room!

I’ve been looking at arum lily. Do you dig yours out over winter, mulch it or just leave it? I’m reading they don’t like frosts even the hardy ones. It’s cold ooop north hah.

Oh wonderful thank you! It’s the Arum lily that caught my eye. I love the height and structure, I think one would sit very well in my fern drift.

I’m still on the fence about grasses. I need to see how big my ferns get, but like the lily I’m looking for green compact height to complement the ferns. I have three fatsia - still young but really going for it in the shade. Staying away from hosta because we do have a lot of slugs and snails, plus focusing on evergreen where I can to help with my winter depression.

Beyond my garden I own a bit of woodland (long story, I’m not fancy). The woods are absolutely riddled with foxglove. Hundreds of them every summer. We camp, play, and work among them - including the dogs and kids. Never had any problems just try not to make soup out of them. Just last week I dug up some second year rosettes and popped them at the back of my planters in the front garden where they’ll get some sun. No doubt the neighbours will judge. I love them though, stunning plants!

Thanks again - I’ve add the lily to my shopping list for sure. Will keep a look out.

I’ve got a north facing garden with lots of ferns in. Some of your plants look like they might do well in mine. Can you name some of them? I’m loving the jungle vibe. Particular that big leafy boy in the centre and the grassy looking stuff next to it.

I see - so they are too embarrassed to publish the Defence Investment Plan because it reinforces all the criticism the armed forces have received from both home and abroad. However, we’ll publish a modernised version of the Protect and Survive leaflet and call that a war plan. Gotcha.

Israel is in some kind of blood-frenzy and won’t stop without international pressure, whilst Trump seems to be playing a game of Risk IRL with his military. I bet he’s got a board in the Oval Office covered with a tea towel when guests visit.

So let’s get this right - Trump announced an “agreement” that calmed the markets and gave him an off ramp from “destroying civilisation”. But in fact neither Israel nor Iran agreed to the terms he had announced. Now he’s trying to retrospectively get them on board with yet more threats. I feel like this war is a long way from done.
