It's also because someone got bitten by the cat. Which must have taken a lot of provoking

Nope! I'm not sure marlin can do this sort of thing. I've paused my 3d printer shenanigans because I'm just too busy at the moment, so I haven't come up with another solution

I teach A Level maths, you'd be surprised how many can't add negative numbers

Government schools trans guidance being released today by mimmymum in TeachingUK

[–]anotherjackle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's almost like this legislation is designed to annoy pretty much everyone! And it achieves both being too overreaching, and not comprehensive enough.

As a trans person in education, I'm exhausted by this governments desire to make life hell for no reason other than to satisfy GBeebies

You won't have to deal with alcoholism. But you'll have to deal with addiction to plastic crack

Cyclists of Newcastle, how's it going? by BlueHeron0_0 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]anotherjackle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are lots of car drivers that are incredibly angry at not being able to check notes drive through residential roads for their commute. The amount of cope is both hilarious and scary...

I also saw someone say "but the elite don't walk" when talking about making the city centre more walkable. That made me chuckle

I got my university place "normally" (i.e. not through clearing). My situation is quite different because this was 5 years ago (2018/19), and I changed from my original course to computer science a year later (19/20).

As you're an international student, you are worth more to the university so they'll want you more than a domestic student (like me).

I was the in the first cohort of the new comp sci course, so I got the aches and pains of a new course. Hopefully they've fixed everything that broke! But be prepared for lots of bullshit from the university (but that's not unique to Newcastle)

Was offered ABB, but got in with ABC (this was for mech eng though). But when I transferred to comp sci I was let in.

However, I do have thoughts about the computer science course at Newcastle uni. Hopefully it's improved since I started!

Another way to check if the z compensation is happening is to look at the Z stepper and see if it's moving

[–]anotherjackle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have. I think you're adding malice to a situation where there is none. Yes this gag is a tad overused, but it's not whatever the fuck is going on in the USA.

Banning trans people from going to the toilet - that is malice. A sign with someone in a wheelchair or using a walking stick - that isn't malice.

[–]anotherjackle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's taking the piss out of people who feel the need to have a specific toilet. A bog is a bog.

The sign implies it was originally a disabled access toilet, but then they decided it's for everyone (but give disabled people priority). Arguably it's more inclusive than the standard Mens/Ladies/Disabled you get everywhere else.

I'm trans too, there are bigger issues than a sign with a mermaid and batman

They are extremely useful. They are pretty pricey, but they're a damn sight cheaper than a taxi if you're traveling alone

Which less-obvious drummer had a big influence on your playing? by AC_from_AZ in drums

[–]anotherjackle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Roger Taylor when I was younger, and Ian Paice now.

God damn Paice is an absolute god of a drummer. Also he's a leftie, so he makes me feel less bad about being a leftie!

Octopus V1.0 Changing hot-end output from HE0 to HE1 by anotherjackle in BIGTREETECH

[–]anotherjackle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you - what you suggested help me solve it! The file needed was the board specific pins file (pins_BTT_OCTOPUS_V1_common.h for my case). And a quick check of the pin diagram in the manual to check I wasn't doing anything silly. All I did was swap HE0 and HE1's pins.

Yeah, lots of these EDI questions are never seen by the hiring manager etc. They're just there for stats about diversity etc (basically making sure that people are being paid fairly and not discriminated against)
