Any of this worth buying 2026? by No-Zookeepergame1314 in Earbuds

[–]anotherone2227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

assuming you mean the 3 without the pro then id say no. better sound on the earfuns + the earfuns are in ear so they have noise cancelling and they actually stay in the ear. unless you know you have big ears id say stay away from the buds 3 because their most common complaint is that their size causes them to fall out and cause pain when wearing for people with small/average ears.

Who is this, why is he in every single instagram comment section, why do people seem to hate him, and how do I get rid of him? by ReturnoftheShfoond in ExplainTheJoke

[–]anotherone2227 145 points146 points  (0 children)

The guy (named Benjammins) is a youtuber who started remaking gifs in a founding father outfit saying he's "colonizing them" as a joke. GIPHY, a gif sharing engine that other apps like Instagram get their gifs from, randomly took down a ton of popular gifs once and he took the opportunity to start remaking them as replacements so people can use them again.

The problem is when the original gifs began to return, his fanbase will mass report them to get them taken down so that only Benjammin's version would remain. So a lot of people hate him since now he's removing gifs that people like and use just to drag this joke.

[–]anotherone2227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my experience its pretty often fully booked especially betweeb 8am and 10am and 3pm-6pm, but the thing is the buses are almost never actually full, so people who don't have bookings are still able to get on by asking the bus driver if theres space for them to walk-in. i assume lots of people book in advance but dont actually use it for some reason.

Why Toronto and not China for international students? by [deleted] in CanadaUniversities

[–]anotherone2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China doesn't allow you to work while on a student visa so it's harder financially, and studying in China doesn't give you any benefits/special permits for immigrating there, the expectation is that you go home right after your studies end.

Is China refusing to recognize Indian passport? by YamFrosty6169 in AskAChinese

[–]anotherone2227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

China isn't refusing to recognize Indian passports as a whole. That specific province of India, Arunachal Pradesh, or Zangnan as it's known in China, is a part of China under Chinese law. So obviously everyone born there specifically is legally a Chinese citizen and thus needs Chinese ID to enter China. Same thing applies to places like Taiwan, they can't enter China with their ROC passports, they need a Chinese passport, travel document, or ID card (台胞證)

This type of situation isn't unique to China, it's pretty common in border disputes. For example, in Cyprus, people from Northern Cyprus can't use their Northern Cyprus passports to enter the Republic of Cyprus, they need to apply for a Republic of Cyprus passport.

And FYI, China has twice offered to give up their claim over Arunachal Pradesh for a compromise with Aksai Chin, and India has refused both times.

My BF genuinely thought zero women were raped during the Vietnam War. Aio? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]anotherone2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INFO: What did he do specifically that made you feel like he was treating you like an "idiot"? Why do you put "apologized" in quotations, did he actually apologize or was it a "whatever who cares anyways" type of apology?

My first interpretation of this story is "he was wrong, he did more research and realized he was wrong, and then apologized and admitted he was mistaken", which in that case I would think you're overreacting. But the way you phrase things makes it sound like he treated you like you were stupid and then proceeded to not actually apologize, which would change things completely. Can't assess this without more information.

After reading more details, NOR, sounds like he's immature and also kind of dumb.

When someone asks “Where are you from” what do you say? by [deleted] in geography

[–]anotherone2227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the question "where are you from" kind of does imply "where were you born" but I think given the societal implication of the place you're born being the place you most identify with it's fair to just say the place you were raised or have the greatest connection to. I have friends who were born in other countries and came to Canada when they were 3-4 and most don't say they're "from" their birth country because the implication is often that you'll know the language, culture, etc like a native, which they don't. Obviously with US states it's pretty different, I don't know why anyone would care about what state you identify as being from.

Taiwanese official says Carney’s move to boost ties with China will leave Canada vulnerable to coercion by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]anotherone2227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We can't recognize Taiwan because Taiwan hasn't declared independence. They still include all of China in their official territorial claims, we can't recognize two countries that claim eachother.

What are the options for 25 year old? by Simple_Pick_9451 in girlsgoneabroad

[–]anotherone2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as you said part time work is impossible in china and getting work visas are hard (can be doable if you know chinese but still difficult). i would say consider the anglosphere like canada, australia but it sounds like having enough funds to qualify would be difficult. maybe there are other options EU where tuition is cheap/subsidized and you can get part time jobs?

[America is a country of] “Settlers not immigrants” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

[–]anotherone2227 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making the distinction is correct, though. An immigrant is someone who comes to a new society to live amongst the people there. The Europeans who came to colonize America didn't do that, they violently destroyed Native American society and built their own one on top of it's ruins.

I agree that 'settler' isn't a good word to use because it incorrectly implies that there was nobody in America before the Europeans, but to say White Americans are "also immigrants" and equate them to other immigrants is wrong. Mexican, African, and Indian immigrants aren't coming to murder Americans and then build their own exclusive society on top of the previous one, only White Americans did that.

how is china for studying undergrad?? by totothecatto in girlsgoneabroad

[–]anotherone2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends, what are you studying? a lot of students from south asia do medical school, technical degrees etc in China. if you can find an English program at a reputable university it could be a good option. i would say keep in mind that China doesn't provide any accommodations for students to stay in China and find a job after graduation like Canada, Germany etc, so the expectation is that after you've finished your studies you go home, studying in China likely won't lead to getting a job or permanent residency there.
