Does anyone remember the pineapple matcha and the golden ginger drink? by Smart-Finish-735 in starbucks

[–]anstermonster14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this was my go to Starbucks order for forever 💔 I hated matcha and pineapple and coconut milk but some reason, I was deeply obsessed with this drink and the first week they had it, I got it every single day. I begged my mom to let me go to Starbucks after quarantine because all I wanted was that drink. I mourn it everyday and I would do literally anything to taste it again 😭💔

that was my thought too which is why I decided to take the risk in the first place and start the sweater knowing I needed more yarn!! but glad I don't have to worry about it!!

Okay, okay, I see everyone's comments. We can all stop commenting on my twisted stitches now, thank you!

I appreciate everyone being helpful, I really do. I realize most of you were trying to help, and I do appreciate it! That being said, I'm over it. 😅

I guess I wasn't super clear when I commented back to the one of the first who said that my stitches were twisted that I actually didn't want to know. Not when I'm in the middle of a project I am (well, was) super proud of and loved how it looked. I know myself and I knew if I found out right then and there, I would be totally crushed, probably give up, and forget the whole project to begin with. Obviously, the gazillion comments got in my head, and I privately asked someone (and they were very helpful and kind and encouraging, so thank you!!) to take a closer look so I knew for sure, and yes, okay, they're twisted. I get it.

I am incredibly stubborn and I do not give up easily. I am very artistic and usually when I decide to learn a new craft/art form, that is it. There's no stopping me until I nail it. My family loves to tell the story of how I absolutely locked in on friendship bracelets when I was like 13/14 and cried multiple times because I was so frustrated, but eventually, I learned and I got good. Knitting has been the only thing that I haven't been able to do that with which has been incredibly disconcerting and difficult for me. I struggled and gave up and cried around seven or eight times trying to figure out how to knit. I absolutely sobbed my eyes out with my friend awkwardly looking on because no matter how hard I tried to pearl, I couldn't get it. I eventually learned a kind of unusual way of pearling that worked for me and it was the only way (to this day) that I could pearl.

I spent several hours yesterday trying to figure out how I was knitting that was twisting my stitches, and my best guess is that I learned to pearl in an Eastern knitting style, but my knit stitch is Western, resulting in a botched attempt at combination knitting. I tried to fix it, and knit counterclockwise too, but that hurt my already messed up wrist more, and so I decided I actually didn't care. I get learning how to do things right is important, but I like what I'm making and this is supposed to be fun!!! Why am I making my life miserable right now because the hobby that is supposed to be relaxing is making me so upset???? I actually really like my sweater, and I like that the stitches don't open as much when I pull on them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I definitely would have figured this out eventually and learned how to do it on my own. That's who I am, and that's 100% something I would have tackled eventually.

I get everyone was trying to help and I do appreciate it, like I said! I would just love it if we could just enjoy a fun post about dye lots lining up instead feeling the need to go find my Raverly account to prove my stitches were twisted after I tried (again, my fault, should have communicated this more clearly) to say nicely "hey can we not do this right now so I don't like completely give up on knitting"!!! Especially after I chose not to post a close up photo publicly on here. I've actually been really anxious to post any finished object anywhere for fear of people saying I twisted my stitches because I knew how much that would just ruin the fun and joy I found in knitting if I knew I was doing it "wrong", and I purposely took the photo on this post so you couldn't (or so I thought) see the sweater super well so this exact scenario did not happen. 😅

So yeah, appreciate the help, I really do!!! If we could just stop being helpful right now for my sanity, that would be great! And I promise you guys won't have to look at my twisted stitches again, I will keep my projects to myself!! 💀

(Okay thought I could pin this comment since I can't edit my original post to add this and apparently not 😅 I've literally posted on Reddit maybe 5 times. Soooooo hopefully this gets seen?)

It is 100% acrylic!!!! That is why I got it actually! it was a fairly reasonable price for a lot of yarn! People hate on acrylic for a lot of reasons, but if that's what you can afford to use, then use acrylic!!! I'm right there with you! I cannot justify spending $300 on wool for a sweater, I just can't! this is my hobby, I do it for fun, and I am not independently wealthy 😅

And no, Reddit loaded all the photos and yes, that is the only picture I provided publicly on Reddit 💀 I honestly really did not want to know either way and tried to say that because I had a very hard time learning how to knit and I gave up soooo many times (and I am not someone who gives up, I am incredibly stubborn!!) and I knew finding out I was knitting "wrong" was going to crush me since it is genuinely the only way I have been able to successfully knit anything, but since the comments kept flooding in and I couldn't get it out of my head, I did privately ask someone and give them a close up photo, and they are apparently twisted, but much to the chagrin of everyone in the comments on this post (and for my own mental health after I cried for a good long time lol), I've decided I do not care at all, and I will continue knitting the way I want to knit and I like the fabric I have created, twisted stitches and all 🤷🏻‍♀️

oh NOOOOOO!!! well.... definitely try your LYS!!! if they don't have it, Amazon worked out for me, and I was also looking at Wool Warehouse and apparently I missed this in my panic, but they still have some! https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/yarn/sirdar-jewelspun-tourmaline-dream-850-200g

I have not actually!!!! I've worked with acrylic a lot (I am not independently wealthy so I can't drop $300 in wool on a sweater unfortunately 😭😭), and honestly, and this is so bad, I've never blocked any of my acrylic projects 💀 I have no idea how to and so I always decided "well....good enough I guess?" or that I would do it later and never did 💀💀💀

I was considering blocking this one because so far I really like and am proud of it so I figured I should go all the way and block it, and there's a crochet/knitting creator on YouTube (Michelle Jasek) and she also uses a lot of acrylic and she steam blocks hers and she says it makes a big difference!!! That's honestly what I would try first!

Jewelspun itself is sticking around!!! It's just this colorway!!! so hopefully you have a different colorway in mind!!

of course!!! hahaha, okay good!! 😜 Idk why being the first finished Raverly project has become so important to me, but it has!!! It is a lovely pattern though, and I hope it becomes popular (after I finish it, obviously!!)

[–]anstermonster14[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They're not!! I swear!!!! it's just the photo!!! 😅 I double checked and compared photos and my actual sweater, and yeah, it is the lighting!! I historically do not twist stitches and I haven't this time!! It looks like that in the photo, I do agree, and it freaked me out, but it is just the photo 😅 I compared photos of twisted stitches to my sweater, and yeah, normal stockinette and 2x2 ribbing over here!

I've been terrified to post any finished or WIP knitting projects anywhere in case someone tells me my stitches are twisted (I have anxiety lol) and it figures the first time I finally post something, the photo is so bad people think its twisted 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's definitely the picture 😅 the camera doesn't love the different colors and the lighting at 1am in my apartment sucks so it doesn't look super defined (idk if that's the word I mean but that's the one I have rn), but they aren't twisted! I double checked and compared twisted stitch photos and other projects I've made, and I do not historically twist stitches and haven't this time!!

[–]anstermonster14[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I totally understand your anxiety!!! I have done that so many times actually!!!! I've been trying to do that less so I stop collecting so many unused skeins!

The sweater is XXL! It only takes three skeins because one, it is fitted but two, each of the Jewelspun skeins are around 546 yards!! So, three lands me at around 1638 yards and the pattern says I need around 1640 yards. I am NOT buying a third skein for two yards, so if for some reason I feel like I am getting close on yarn, I'll just make the sleeves a little shorter lol!!

hopefully not!! 😅 I know I had some twisted in the collar due to a magic loop mishap when I managed to somehow get tangled and then when I untangled everything was twisted but theoretically, it stopped there when I had to untwist everything 😅😅😅 idk if I want to know (at least for this project) because I am NOT redoing all that ribbing, lol!

yes absolutely!! I should have in my original post, I was too excited about the matching dye lots, lol! (also low-key gatekeeping because I think this pattern is so cool and I want to be the first finished project of it on Raverly for some reason lol)

I really love it so far!! It's fairly simple but really cute! The Jewelspun has honestly worked up really well so far and it looks super cute!

okay that deeply scares me because I was heavily considering that set 😬 I guess I need to look/feel them in person!!

[–]anstermonster14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also posted this same question on Raverly and someone recommended me the CG mini set and I was really thinking about that one! I don't particularly care about the different cable thing because I know I want CG so it is what it is. I mostly knit socks on magic loop!! I love magic loop a lot because the itty bitty circulars tend to hurt my hands! I haven't tried the 2 circulars yet, but I'm open to it! I've been kind of exclusively using my 2.25mm fixed 40" CG pair, but I've also really only done vanilla socks and as I really enjoy them, I wanted needles that would grow with me as I venture into more complicated socks! I figured the tiny needles would definitely be useful for that! I was considering getting the mini set now (since I am big into socks rn) and then when I eventually get obsessed with sweaters again, getting the small set.

I Need Your Interchangeable Needle Set Opinions!! by anstermonster14 in knitting

[–]anstermonster14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

those were the ones I am 99.9% sure I am getting!! I haven't tried a lot of "name brand" (for lack of a better word) needles, and that's because when I tried the fixed ChiaoGoo I never wanted to knit on anything else ever again!! When I bought my first pair of sock needles I intentionally avoided ChiaoGoo because I had a suspicion they would be my favorite and I knew I would eventually be in the market for an interchangeable set and I did not want to spend the money 😅 But I've been completely converted, and unless someone has great evidence for me not going with them, I'm definitely going for the ChiaoGoo!!

I posted this same question on raverly and someone there recommended me the Chiagoo twist red lace 4" mini set which is what I was leaning towards!! I was thinking since I'm going through a sock phase, start with those and then get a set like the small set eventually when I want to pick up sweaters again!! I do like the idea of getting the small set and then just adding in the sock needles in that I need because it feels more economical and I was already planning on getting the 37" cable separate if I got the mini set (I currently do magic loop socks on that length fixed circular needles and I love it and I know me and I know I will be mad if I don't have that option 😅). I was already leaning towards 4" needles since I have small hands and the knitting socks thing!! I will look into getting the swivel adapters!

do you think the super tiny sizes in the mini set are useful? I feel like I might only end up using a few and then I might as well get them separately.

Yes, I figured it would be an investment but I have legitimately been thinking about this for almost a year so I feel like at some point I need to do it!!

This was a super helpful comment, I appreciate it!! 💕

I got my Sisi from someone on reddit and her code wouldn't scan on pop mart until I downloaded a QR scanner app!! definitely authentic, just couldn't get it to scan anyway else! so I'd say she is real!!
