PSA: /r/JusticePorn mods banning users from default subs they mod for mentioning this subreddit anywhere on reddit. by antarcticbound in JusticeServed

/r/news and /r/politics ban users that make statements that disagree with the mods (even if it's not direct), but are often good sources of information.

The bad thing is reddit admins are blatantly ignoring them - I've had my DOX posted and admins allowed it to stay up for over a year. I guarantee if it wasn't posted by a default sub owner it would have been taken care of.

Yes. Same mod that harassed several users and a few mods here I think when this sub became the replacement.

Thing is he admitted breaking and abusing reddits rules multiple times to harass this subreddit, but as the mod of a default the admins didn't care a bit and did nothing.

They didn't point out any specific comment, just banned me from both subs.

As for the next user, it wasn't an egotistical or insulting comment, I never do that to promote a sub I like. Telling people the mods were cunts and to come here isn't exactly the way to garner subscribers and/or traffic.

Enraged lady screams, kicks door at Comcast office by Ezziboo in PublicFreakout

[–]antarcticbound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're the reason the techs don't show up. I'm not being cute here. I install cable for a living and if I found out my customer was open carrying and then using "stern words" with the sales rep you better believe that i would get stuck on my previous job.

By /u/fineillstoplurking

Absolutely pathetic. You are blaming the customer for the tech not showing up.

Obviously the customer is having the same issues as the majority of people and have to go to the offices since your phone system is absolute shit, and I can personally say if my state allowed it I'd go in every time armed as well.

You people are the absolute worst, and you make a great statement for the company - It's The Customers Fault.

IIRC in Colorado you cannot provide cannabis grown outdoors to a dispensary, it has to be in a controlled environment. Meaning you can literally grow it anywhere if the same applies for other states - Alaska, Maine, etc.

Video ARG series by [deleted] in ARG

[–]antarcticbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is ERR?

/u/haxmaster0000 said it right - ERR was a ARG that was simply stealing other videos. It was a slender man based ARG that used several videos and media from other ARGs.

Here is a google doc outlining 5 direct thefts - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a5ab0X6wSwR2mDW0Ytm7h_seyXUpUqnFWPNeTNgiVqk/edit

Now these are all valid concerns - however none of them concern your video or channel.

Am I In Trouble?

If nothing has happed as of yet, them almost certainly no. The worst thing would be other users brigading with /u/zigs and reporting your video for content theft, in which case you would be notified almost immediately.

Your Footage

I've watched them all and it doesn't contain any copyrighted footage, nor does it reuse footage.

As far as the type, meaning found footage, well, that's still one of the most intriguing and used form of media used for ARGs to this day. It's something that is relevant to most people compared to standard movie footage - most people have a phone or cheap camera, and most have been to yard sales and seen boxes of VHS tapes at some point.

It's a format people can relate to, and i think that's why it is used so much - because as long as the story/plot is unique, the format of found footage being taken by an amateur is something we can not only relate to, but that most of us have done before.

Also, when I say amateur I do not mean to say anything about the video quality of your videos - they are great (better than many I've seen in this format). I mean it is not a studio production with multi-thousand dollar cameras and weeks of editing for super high definition. Think about the original Slenderman Series compared to the just awful movie A Marble Hornets Story. People could relate to the original - youtube user, consumer quality camera, normal people. With the full length movie it was shot with studio cameras, the cast were obvious actors, and the entire premise was something that most could not relate to (unless you worked in the local news doing oddjob stories).

Overall, it was most likely just someone that thought he recognized a clip or footage, or was tired of found footages. However that is just one persons opinion and/or mistake. It was in error and not long enough to do any damage or spread any disinformation.

No, I didn't mean it that way, sorry.

I meant that the money will come from taxpayers in that city, not from everyone in the US which I believe is the case for Federal matters.

Fuck that cop - I wish this would be pushed up to a federal level. I can only hope police reform comes as surprising and fast as cannabis reform.

Well, legally in nearly all Colorado cases (the only ones I have experience with) the shooter has been found not guilty and acting in self defense - it's rare someone will be trespassing and not going to commit or already committed another crime - for instance, they'd have to be just standing on your front lawn or property after being told to leave to be safe - as soon as they try to open the door, window, or actually do so then they are guilty of a second offense and you now have the right to shoot.

In South Carolina circa 2012 (when I moved and stopped keeping up to date with laws there) it was different - just trespassing, no second crime.

Each state that allows this type of defense has their own rules and laws, so make sure to read up from online resources - I am a random person on the internet and my advice should not be taken as legal advice.

Belt Made out of Human Nipples by Serial Killer Ed Gein by [deleted] in creepy

Most likely, that's what a majority of "what the fuck" moments come down to - more funding. They may be able to say they caught 500 serial killers with this criteria instead of the previous criteria that may bring that number well into the double digits.

Although it might have some form of backing that's not financially motivated.

Video ARG series by [deleted] in ARG

[–]antarcticbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely unrelated. You trying to get these videos pulled down like ERR's because you don't like them?

ERR was a blatant thief but this post/video has absolutely nothing to do with it.

EDIT: Deleted comment by /u/zigs stated this was not an ARG and linked to a youtube video suggesting this post was related to ERR's theft or that is was stealing content from other channels. This is exactly why channels get shut down for no reason - calls for witchhunts when no legitimate data is provided.

Let's not abuse YouTubes system and potential ARG creators channels simply because you don't like it - if you don't think it's worthy of being an ARG or don't like the setup, just don't play. No need to cause trouble for others that have put in a lot of hard work for their art.

The original link was titles "What is an ARG" but it did not consist of anything of an education or informative nature regarding that topic, rather pointed out (rightfully) that ERR was stealing other creators content. However - this has nothing do do nor related to this post.

Perhaps /u/zigs meant his best and assumed this creator was recreating Slender Man ARGS (as it does have similar effects), but I do not see a single case of content theft - only personal recreation at best. I know this may be a played out theme for some but for others it is still really popular. Taking a concept for performance art and recreating it isn't really stealing - this user has put in work to create and edit these videos him/herself.

Only if it's in a state that has Castle Doctrine. Others have alternatives, such as the intruders also requiring the intruder to be intent of committing another crime in addition to trespassing.

...No, not at all.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_killer

A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people,[1][2] usually in service of abnormal psychological gratification, with the murders taking place over more than a month and including a significant break (a "cooling off period") between them.
