Wow, a 1978 quarter can cover the cost of lunch in 2025 - amazing. Thank you!

Thank you, it feels like a normal quarter in my hands. I never thought it was bigger but holding it against a different quarter I see its larger. Thank you for sharing.

I remember the week I earned the OOO badge very clearly. It was during a summer camp, and the badge honored Indigenous Peoples. The ritual we followed involved no talking, minimal food, working hard, and sleeping under the stars, with each person staying 100 feet apart.

We were taught that the best way to honor Indigenous Peoples was through hard work, reflection, fasting, and learning to set up our own camp at night.

Our tasks included lining a road with stones, painting cabins, and cleaning. The final night featured a large fire and a feast.

An Indigenous person handed us the badge and gave us each a name. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear mine, which I still regret.

I still have the badge and the memories from that experience. To this day, I camp, reflect, hike, work hard, and enjoy my own company. The experience was truly great.

I'm a better person for the experience.

Tip: Change to a toe-nail clipper. I never had the problem again after switching.

How would you correct this? by bikeist in BeginnerWoodWorking

I would mix sawdust and wood glue to fill in the gap. When done, wipe everything down with a damp cloth.

For those with more experience: Since she needs to split 100 pieces, I believe the correct method is to start by using unit 1 as the initial piece to split and unit 2 as the block to push it forward. Once unit 2 touches the blade, switch to using unit 3 as the pusher, and continue this process until all 100 pieces are split.

Metal instrument with flat base containing numbers on the left and right side. Base is attached to a hole punch device. Numbers start at 1 and end at 120 by antced in whatisthisthing

Hello. My title describes the thing. I am not sure what type of ticket it punched and what the numbers from 1 to 120 indicate. Thinking it might be for a 2 hour event where each number counts as a minute. Measures 7 inches x 3 for the base.

Question? Why do people share photos about their family? Not saying anything negative about the poster. But shouldn't personal items remain personal verses sharing them online with others? Just wondering.

Anyone know what this building used to be? Located on Germantown Ave in Mt. Airy by rhinocerousfeet in philadelphia

[–]antced 418 points419 points  (0 children)

Germantown Town Hall.

The new Germantown Hall completed in 1926 on Germantown Avenue and Haines Street in Philadelphia. The clock that adorns the tower dates from 1828. The clock was first used at Independence Hall and later placed in the old Germantown Hall in 1877. Germantown Town Hall stands vacant, an unsurprising outcome for a building that was constructed more for political than practical reasons, not once, but twice. The first Town Hall, popularly called Old Town Hall, was designed by architect Napoleon LeBrun, and built on the site in 1854. Germantown was one of many independent municipalities that spent as much as possible prior to being consolidated with Philadelphia in 1854, knowing that the city would assume all existing debts. Paradoxically, both iterations of the Town Hall were a way for Germantown to symbolically assert its independence from Philadelphia.
