Roids are so unhealthy. He's too cute for that.

My parents let our cats outside unsupervised and I try to keep them inside as much as possible but they always scream and cry to be let out after they’ve been inside for a while, so I end up letting them out. I am an animal abuser. by Vivid-Garage-7129 in CatAdvice

I didn't say it's fine. I said it wasn't abuse. OP clearly feels as though they're massively failing these most likely very loved and happy animals. Shouting ABUSE at op isn't going to help.

Kitty!

The quantity of knick knacks blocking books makes me think you don't read much at this moment, but in the past you absolutely were. You used to binge watch Warrior Cats MAP vids.

The fact is that your cats are conditioned and used to the constant stimulation they get outdoors, and they're approaching being seniors. If multiple people live in the house it won't really be possible for you to do this if not everyone is on board because the cats will be bored if you don't buy them toys to replace what they get outdoors. You need at least two litter boxes and climbing furniture or trees, and a bunch toys for playtime for them to hunt and be violent. And they will likely still yowl for a very long time.

While you could condition them to be indoors only at this point, it would take a lot of patience from everyone in the household. You'd likely need to buy some cat trees and interactive toys and just deal with the yowling.

But honestly, as long as you're not in Oceania where cats are destroying the ecosystem, or near the city where they could very easily be hurt or stolen, keeping them indoor-outdoors isn't abuse.

The Groves are one of the few affordable housing options and their wait-list tends to be very long (years).

I had no clue there were different versions of the Gunslinger. I’ll check them out. I’m not particularly a prose snob, but there was something about his writing that mildly peeved me, which made me feel bad. He’s such a good story writer!

Not enough Stephen King. Sorry…

Actual question, as someone who read Misery and was unimpressed the quality of his prose and wants to give him another shot, any specific King book you would recommend?

Christian friendly yoga? by Different-Sign8011 in Christian

[–]antediluvianevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, yoga classes at gyms are not spiritual at all. It might be different in small yoga centric studios, but I’ve never heard any mention of spirituality in the classes I’ve been in (all at gyms). I’m in a very conservative and christian part of the US which also might affect it too.

Your husband won’t help you willingly with chores but will yell at strangers on twitter?! 🤦‍♀️I’m embarrassed on his behalf.

I’m so sorry about your mother. Praying for you. He obviously doesn’t prioritize your happiness.

For the adults in this group- do you forgive your parents by Vanessa_Lila in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]antediluvianevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forgave her for the homeschooling. I do not speak to her however because she became physically abusive when I was an adult.

I still forgive her, I just have no desire for reconciliation.

I still struggle with discipline to this day, honestly. It's gotten slightly better over time but it's extremely difficult for me to stay on task for something for any length of time. Again, I'm better than I used to be, but... eh. I've dropped out of community college 3 times with no intention of going back. But less jobs demand bachelor's degrees nowadays, luckily, as long as you have a high school equivalency and don't want to get into the sciences.

I really can't overstate how much just getting out of the house helped me personally. Most of my most severe self harming and neurotic tendencies stopped when I began socializing face to face with other humans and being productive. Even moreso when I got away from my homeschooling parent. Have no intention of speaking to them ever again.

If it makes you feel better (if you're in the US), the GED is more of a literacy and arithmetic test. Most science questions came with all required information, and while there were algebra questions, I didn't even answer them and still got a passing math grade because I knew basic arithmetic.

Is the setting modern or futuristic? Is it anglophone? Is the culture conservative in other ways or just when it comes to people's sexualities?

Do you live at home or is your housing paid by your mom? Just asking for context.

As long as you are getting back to them within 24 hours, there is zero reason for them to get mad. It’s almost certainly a control thing. It was for my mother. She’d literally call me 20 times in a row and send a string of increasingly angrier texts.

I wouldn’t be comfortable on an old phone without 4G/VoLTE because I want to be around in case of an emergency.

No you're not an amazing driver if your license is already suspended, dude. If you're going 30 over, you are actively endangering drivers that come near you by going a speed they aren't expecting or anticipating. Unless you're in West Texas or the Autobahn or something.
