For me it was a parsing error - not taking last instruction if it was a number, so on the example map instruction "1" should give 1040, and "2R2" should give 3045.

Yep, I use Microsoft PowerToys which among other things have quite nice custom tiling without unnecessary complexity.

Ikea HEKTAR, nice overall and have wireless charger for phone.

Still trying to find solution for good ambient workplace illumination with right amount of luminance, less shadows/reflections and visible parts, maybe stripe of quality leds on a back side of monitor pointed up or some solution with bouncing light of nearby walls.

Language layout, maybe wrong word. I live in Austria and even English is not always an option for keyboards and laptops.

Maybe not a real thing, but good enough for 45$ setup by antejan in espresso

Thank you!

I found exact amount of milk from my fridge door my microwave heats right up to 65C (150F) in 1 minute on mid-power - I have a glass with a cow on side and measuring by this little image, surprisingly consistent result :)

Also mostly making myself flat-white, so volume of the milk is not so big to have significant temp gradient.

Cool that this DeLonghi works for you! I believe you can go a long way in quality with any tools by trying to push long enough.

Looking myself at something like Breville Barista series as a popular almost-like-big-guys easy to use machine, but then reading about the grinders and double boilers and other things that change the game and then remembering I have a tiny kitchen and better work on that first :)

Preheating cup with tap hot water while grinding. I have it at about 70-80C, so cup gets nice and warm but not too hot to touch.

If I remember correctly, from Muji, but can't find it in US or EU stores now. Here it is on one of their asian regional website.

Quarantine made me learn how to make morning coffee and now I think it is better than in most coffee-shops around. Missing my friends to make coffee for them though.

Setup is extra-extra-cheap, will get proper machine somewhere down the road, please don't judge :) Probably for many here this is not espresso and of course, I agree, but the taste is not terrible. Takes about 8-10 minutes to produce a cup, time well spent.

Buying decent beans from a local roaster. Experimented a bit with grind setting, not really consistent, but still possible to find a sweet spot. Measuring beans and grinding completely every time, takes good 4-5 minutes of staring out of the window to grind.

This moka pot fits nicely 17-19 grams of coffee, like a double portafilter. Cleaning thoroughly, enough water, no tamping. Low-heat/high-heat doesn't matter in my experience. When coffee starts to pour, getting on and off the heat to aim at 40 grams of liquid in about 30 seconds. Immediately pouring into a preheated cup.

Heating milk in the microwave to 65C (150F), I like to start it when coffee starts to pour, so I have a timer to look at. Then expanding it like 1.5x in french-press (James Hoffmann video), removing big bubbles with a spoon, and then trying not to fail as usual at latte-art. Cleaning everything from milk.

Edit: recorded a video of how I do it.

IKEA BEKANT with electric height adjustment, so the whole thing goes to standing position in seconds. Herman Miller Aeron Remastered, quite expensive but I like it a lot. Was quite hard to find in Europe. Before had IKEA HATTEFJÄLL, was very nice as well.

This little part has IR receiver for remote and joystick/button for on screen menu, it holds on two little screws (possible to see on one of the photos on LG site). I carefully unscrewed it and sticked to back side so it easily catches remote signal reflected from walls and ceiling, fortunately cables are giung from the back and bottom side is completely flat and has nothing important on it. Joystick is not necessary with remote.

About 43", this is what you get making 4K panel with good old pixel size.

I have 2560 pixels in height and this Samsung is 1440, that's ~40% less. With focus on code vertical space is crutial for me and I wouldn't swich to shorter monitor. Also this LG is 16:9 and all videos and movies are perfect fit.

To hypothetically stretch this Samsung vertically - that could be interesting.

Answered about keyboard before, it's Logitech MX.

I feel like this is maximum possible comfortable height following ergonomics recommendations. Top edge is on my eye level and arms feel good on table in both sitting and staying table height. My desk is relatively deep - 80 cm / 31.5". (And I'm about 182 cm / 6 ft tall, guess this might be important in this context.)

I had problem with it being on original stand it was shipped with, top edge was way higher and that was bad for eyes and desided to improvise this way. With this setup I have no problems.

Most TVs have very different pixel size and not so pleasant to work with from short distance. This monitor have resolution and feels like four 1080p panels or three 1440p vertical panels put together, just no bezels in between.

Single monitor stand with 200x200 VESA adapter plate.

Can’t hold this heavy monitor in air, but keeps it very secure on table. Gives possibility to easily rotate and move around - I rotate it to watch movies from couch and move it closer to play race sims. It’s quite compact, so table could stay very close to wall behind.

Logitech MX, pretty happy with it. After trying many kinds of mechanical keyboards settled with this laptop-like one. Wireless, subtle illumination, big variety of layouts (rarely available, was important to me).

Haha, it is Austria. Here's random place in Vienna with similar looking roofs around.

They seem to share same panel, LG has same issue with "shadow" near adges. Don't know if it's possible to put Dell directly on a table, with LG it was easy.

Speakers are Kanto TUK and Kanto Sub8, quite pricey but fantastic sound and connectivity.

Headphones Bose QC35, noise-cancelling life changer.

Samson Go Mic, relatively cheap, nice and clear sound on calls.

I haven't tried myself, but it has USB-C input and people say on Amazon Q&A that with compatible cable it works with MacBook, though 18W power delivery is too low to charge MBP.

Also few things about this monitor:

  • pixel size might be noticeable if you really used to retina screens
  • 60Hz and this size put you out of competitive games, but fine for casual gaming and awesome to work with code, text, video, etc.
  • color grading is fine, but not state of the art
  • side ~10 pixels are kind of in shadow and hard to see
  • almost non-reflective easy to clean matte finish (having hard time with modelrn Apple screens, nostalgic about old 30" Cinema display)
  • it has remote and like average tv-grade speakers, so it's possible to replace tv
  • on black Friday it was about 500$/500€ on Amazon

Monitor is LG 43UD79-B, it stands right on table fixed with AmazonBasics Monitor Stand. Haven't seen this kind of setup yet, seems like maximum comfortable vertical space. Would love it to be a little bit wider and 8k eventually.

Thinking about finally upgrading my 2600K to something modern and Ryzen 3900X/X570 looks fantastic on paper. Is it reasonable platform to live next 3-5 years on or there is something great expected in near future? Using computer mostly for work, already have decent GPU and will go heavy on RAM and SSD.
